Their vacation years took them by car to the entire coastal areas of the USA. They visited all 50 states – Hawaii twice and Alaska, his retirement trip, was his favorite. They spent 7 days on land and 7 days by cruise ship. They also took many driving trips to South Dakota, flights to Las Vegas and Don Laughlin’s, and went whale watching off Cape Cod. Curt loved his coffee. Cruise ship waiters called him Coffee Curt.

Family in Vietnam.
Pat, Rick & family - I am so sorry for your loss. I have very fond memories of Curt when Rick and I were growing up together. And also reconnecting with him in the late 1990's, as I would see him at St Mary's almost daily. My heart goes out to you all.
I never had a grandpa in my life; and I felt grandpa Curt was my own. He welcomed me to the family the first time he met me. He was the kindest, most gentle, and thoughtful person. He cared great deals about his family and people around him. He had a great sense of humor that was so honest and genuine. The void in our hearts will never be filled. He loved his family; especially great grandchildren more than words can described. I will make sure to tell Benjamin- his great grandson- about Grandpa Curt’s legacy.
My grandpa was a very sweet, gentle, kind, involved man. Family was the most important to him. He loved his entire family and friends and was well loved in return. I have so many fond memories of him coming to visit all of us in Omaha and us going up to Minnesota especially at Christmas time and Christmas Eve’s with him. He dearly loved his grand children and his great grand children. So glad he was able to meet and hold our Benjamin before he had to leave this earth. I wish he would had got more time with him. He will be long remembered. I am honored to carry his name in my middle name Curtis.
Deepest sympathy to you Patty and your family on the death of Curt. We went to school many years together, sunday school
and Luther League.. he was a good guy. Mona and Dick Fajen
Great Grandpa Curt was the kindest, sweetest grandpa. He loved his great grandchildren and was always so excited to see them. Gabrielle,Titus, and Amaris shared the same excitement and love for him as well. He loved picking out just the right gifts for each of them and was always so excited to have them open them up. We will miss him so much. I will never forget all the great memories we shared with him over the years. Our Florida trip to surprise Randy, all the birthday celebrations that they drove 6 hours to help us celebrate. There were also the holidays and just because visits. I wish I could thank him for being such a good grandpa and tell him how much I loved visiting with him. He was such a kind and gentle soul. It still doesn’t seem like he could really be gone. We will miss him so much. -Love you grandpa Curt
Patty and Family,
Sorry for your loss, you have my deepest sympathy. Curt was the custodian who gave me the nickname Iver, since I fit in with the 'boys' on the crew. I can still see his smiling face coming into the janitor room on ground Joseph. He was a wonderful person, and a great co-worker.
One of the sweetest men I have ever had the blessings of having in my life was called to his heavenly home. My heart aches for my sister Pat, their sons-Rick and Randy, and their families. Curt always put his family first as a great husband and father should. May God hold you all in palms of his hands and keep you safe until that day when there is no sunrise nor sunset and we can see Curt again. Our Deepest Sympathy.
