Craig Arthur Ramaker

Craig Arthur Ramaker, age 61, died peacefully on November 1, 2014.

Craig was born on August  18^th, 1953 to Duane and Harriette (Johnson) Ramaker.  Craig’s family resided in Cherry Grove and later moved to the Waterloo area.

Craig was an avid athlete and excelled in every sport he played. As Quarterback for his high school he led his undefeated team-the Waterloo East High Trojans- to the National Championship in 1971. He was also fortunate enough to play Quarterback through his college years.

Craig was a scratch golfer and competed in numerous tournaments.  He was Club Champion twice and Senior Champion once at his favorite course, Northern Hills.

Craig lived for the sport of the game and never turned down a chance to play or to teach his sons the valuable life lessons through sports.  Craig was the best coach they ever had!

Craig was self-employed as a master plumber and mechanical contractor. Over the years he has worked and lived in Hayfield, Spring Valley and Rochester. He always took the time to help his family, friends and neighbors with their plumbing needs!

He was the proud parent of Cooper Ramaker, a junior at Mayo High School, and Jackson Ramaker, a sophomore at Mayo High School. Craig is also survived by the boy’s mother, Jolene Stock, sister Dianna Povilus; an aunt, Janice Hovey, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his beloved Collie, Champ.

Craig was preceded in death by his parents.

A visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards Cooper and Jackson’s college funds.
