Chuor Thel Chuor

Honorable Chuor Thel Chuor was born on March 17, 1962, to parents Thel Chuor and Arek Magak from Northern Bahr elGhazal in Aweil South in the Aweil City. Chuor has one sibling Deng Chuor Thel who passed away in 2000s in Jordan.

Chour has six children from Madam Mary Amoss from Central Equatoria (Pojullo tribe) Adut Chuor Thel Chuor, Arek Chuor Thel Chuor, Chuor Chuor, Deng Chuor, Deng Chuor Thel Chuor, Akuc Chuor Thel Chuor; grandchildren, Nahla Arek Chour, Ater Achui Chour and Chuor Chuor.

Chuor attended Both Elementary and Junior School in Aweil and later Rumbek High School with the intentions of going to University. Chuor obtained a bachelor’s degree in education from Tanta University in Tanta, Egypt. 

Chuor worked as a high school teacher for displaced students of The South Sudan in North Sudan (Khartoum). He was the Northern Bahr elGhazal State Secretary from 1994 to

  1. He was appointed as a member of Parliament for Sudan national government from 1995 to 1996. In the United States Chuor worked for IBM, Mayo clinic and Walmart before retiring.

On July 12th, 1996, Ustaz Chuor came to the United States of America as a member of Parliament delegations to attend an elections conversation as representative. After the conversation, Chuor decided to seek political asylum in the United States of America. Ustaz was helped by his friend, the late former State Senator Paul Wilson. Ustaz Chuor brought his family, wife Madam Mary Amossa and children Arek and Chuor. Their asylum status was granted in 1998.

Chuor enjoyed being a goalkeeper for Aweil soccer team, politics, reading, playing cards and dominos, puzzles, games, watching wrestling, being #1 Viking’s fan and spending time with his family.

Honorable Chuor Thel Chuor remained in the USA from 1996 until the end of his life May God rest his soul in peace.
