Christine M. Parisi

Christine Marie Parisi – beloved friend, sister, mother, and wife – born July 10, 1948, died January 20, 2024, in Rochester, MN, surrounded by those she loved.

Chris, or “Christy” as she was known by many of her family and friends, was born in Herkimer, NY and grew up on a farm. She attended Allegheny College and Syracuse University, where she received her master’s degree in social work. While working at SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, NY, she met her husband, Dr. Joseph Parisi. They married on April 14, 1973 and started a family with their children, David and Thomas. Chris worked as a research coordinator at Olmsted Medical Center in Rochester, MN. She was a lifelong volunteer to several organizations, including a school library in Montgomery County, Maryland; Saint Marys Hospital Gift Shop; Shades of Green Hosta Society; and many more. Chris enjoyed frequent get-togethers with her mah-jongg friends, hosta friends, farmers’ market friends, and so many others. She provided affectionate care to birds, dogs, cats, and all creatures great and small.

Chris loved cooking elaborate meals for family and friends, and took joy in planting and labeling different hostas in her yard. She was an avid reader and always on the search for a new mystery or cookbook. She shared whenever she learned about a new song on The Current. Chris relished being in the moment at live performances, concerts, and people creating art. Chris and Joe loved each other’s company and looked forward to the solving daily Wordle, Crossword, and Connections puzzles.

Chris will be remembered for her abundant spirit, compassion for others, and gregarious sense of humor. She spread love to many people, especially among her cherished family. Chris is survived by the love of her life of 51 years, Joe; her brother Andy and sister Nancy; sons David (Alexandra) and Thomas (Nikta); and granddaughters, Zelda, Gertrude, and Avia.

A celebration of Chris’ life will be held in mid-July 2024 in Rochester. In lieu of flowers, please visit this website to make a donation in Chris’ memory and to leave an online condolence: https://sites.google.com/view/cpinmemomoriam/home
