Condolences
The family of Charles H. Dicken, M.D. has received the following condolences.
Dear Brenda,
Please accept my condolences and prayers for you and your family. I will always remember Charlie's good teaching and dry wit, in addition to the wonderful hospitality you both showed all of the Mayo residents as we enjoyed your beautiful home on the river.
May he rest now in peace, and may God grant you and your family love, comfort, and support during this time. Mark Zalla
I enjoyed working with Dr. Dicken at Olmsted Medical Group during my employment there.
My thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.
Sincerely, Tammy
My sincere sympathy to the family of Dr. Charles Dicken. I want to tell the family of a big THANK YOU for his help with my mother during her time of need. My mother was a farm wife/mother living in Pine Island and in the mid 80's was stricken with a painful rash. Upon her doctoring with a small town physcian he could not help her so he referred to the Mayo Clinic Department of Dermatology. Dr Dicken was her specialist. After visits and skin testing he found out what the rash/breaking out was from. She was grateful for the help she received. Our family was also relieved that mother found someone to help her. My mother lived until March 2009, she passed away at 87 years of age. Other health issues set in for her health to fail.
God's Blessings and Peace to you all. He is among God's Angels carrying on and watching over us all.

Dear Brenda - I was a resident from 1978 -1981 and was so sorry to hear about the death of CHarles. I will always remember how much fun we had at your house, playing the piano and singing to all hours of the night. Charles particularly loved The Duke of Earl as I recall. Charles was always eager to include me in family activities. I remember canoeing one time with the kids on the Zumbro and Charles and you watching helplessly as little Charlie fell out and went under the water several times but managed to keep my Nikon camera over the water level much to my relief. I know Charles wondered about my priorities after that. Charles always seemed to enjoy our particular group of residents and seemed to have as much fun as we did. I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Charles and your family and those memories of my Mayo days in which both of you played such a significant role. Sincerely, Chris Crotty
I will miss seeing Dr. Dicken @ LIFE classes. I very much enjoyed discussing the "old days" when we both worked on Station 8-2 at RMH. Hugs, Lucy
Dear Brenda . . .
I will greatly miss the questions that he raised in our LIFE classes. His special way of relating topics to his vast experiences and background of knowledge frequently added a special dimension to our consideration of historical topics. He was ever open to new information and points of view, even when his prior understanding was challenged.
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy.

Susan and I want to send our thoughts and prayers at this time to Brenda and the Dicken family. Dr. Dicken was a great mentor, a wonderful role model and an excellent clinician. I still remember the time he took me water skiing on the river. He laughed so hard as he pulled me through the large ship wakes! He will always be remember by us and in our hearts.
To the family~
Please accept our deepest condolences at this sad time. Hold all your memories close to your hearts and they will help you.

Dear Brenda,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences on the loss of your husband.
Although I moved to Scottsdale several years ago, Chella kept me informed about Charlie. While in Rochester, I always had great fun playing singles and doubles with him. Great human being and a wonderful friend.

MY DEAR DICKEN FAMILY:
I am deeply saddened at the loss of this kind, gentle, and gracious man. My heart aches for his family, he loved them all dearly. I worked with Dr. Dicken during his 8 years in Dermatology at Olmsted Medical Center, I have so many wonderful memories, I will cherish every one of them. It was during that time Dr. Dicken and his wife Brenda became dear friends of mine. Dr. Dicken will be missed by many, but those of us who knew him best and loved him will miss him most. May you rest in peace.
My sincere condolences:
Jan Lagomasino
It is with sadness that I learned of Dr. Dicken's death today from the Mayo Clinic Alumni Association. I was a resident from 1975-78 and recall his cheerfulness and interest in teaching very well. The funniest story I remember is standing in line at the Dallas airport and hearing the PA system ask if " Charles Dicken and Roy Rogers are in line please come to the front desk ". Needless to say there were more than a few chuckles heard at that point. My prayers and thoughts go out to his wife, Brenda, and the rest of his family. Rest in peace!
