Charles Clarence Caflisch

Charlie Caflisch, 82, of Rochester, MN died Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at his home.

Charlie was born to George and Ida (Schleusner) Caflisch July 17, 1937 and raised on the family farm near Simpson, MN. He enlisted in the Army when he was 17, and proudly served three years. He sang tenor in the Minnesota BoyChoir, especially enjoyed fishing the root river and never passed on an opportunity to play cribbage. He spent most of his career as a bricklayer in the southern states returning to Rochester in 2003. Charlie appreciated life as it was making the best of every situation. Up through his last days, his favorite times were spent at Treasure Island winning a buck or two (so he said) or educating the rest of us on the fine art of gambling, Charlie style. He loved his tractor and the freedom that provided, he was an avid reader and political debater, and all around nice man with a kind spirit.

Charles is survived by his siblings, Bob Caflisch of Windsor, CO, Shorty Caflisch of Rochester, and MaryAnn Jack of Chatfield; and very special friends, Jerry, Jessica and Mandie Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Paul; sister, Rita; sisters-in-law, Mary Jane and Darlene; and brother-in-law, Gene Jack.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Carol Schaffer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Simpson at a later date.

Memorials are suggested to Seasons Hospice: https://www.seasonshospice.org/donations-form.

Condolences

The family of Charles Clarence Caflisch has received the following condolences.

Dear Friends,

My deep and sincere condolences on the loss of Charlie.  I have many fond memories of him and your family and those good Simpson days.  Weren't you in the 4-H club....and I vividly recall listening to Charlie singing!

Both my sister (Marilyn) and brother (Ronnie) have gone on to heaven, but I know they would be sending their sympathy for your loss if they were still here.  I trust Charlie knew Jesus as his personal Savior and, if so, then they are celebrating together in heaven!

Love and Prayers,

Rosalie
