The Funeral Service for Charles Burton Treadwell will be held at 11:00AM on Thursday, October 13, 2011 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with pastors Becky Jo Thilges and Jane Day officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Charles Burton Treadwell, 83, of Rochester died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at his home.
Charles “Charley” Burton Treadwell was born on May 25, 1928 in Chenango, New York, the son of Lucius and Marie Treadwell. He served in the US Coast Guard in Cape May, New Jersey from 1946 – 1949. On November 19, 1949 he married Betty Jane (Wright) Treadwell. They have celebrated over 62 years of marriage. Charles moved to Rochester from the IBM Endicott Plant in 1956. He retired from IBM Rochester as a Project Manager after over 37 years of service. He was a past president of the IBM Retirees Club, a member of the Quarter Century Club, and a member of the Rochester Elks Lodge. He volunteered as an Assistant Scout Master and was a past president of the Little League Baseball Club. Charles was a member of Homestead United Methodist Church. He enjoyed fishing, golf, landscaping, dancing, going to the casino, and spending time at his lake home in Alexandria, MN. He is deeply loved by his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his wife Betty, three children, Dana (Nancee) Treadwell, Dianne (Edward) Firch, and Denise (Tom) Holubar (all of Rochester) five grandchildren, Heather(Larry) Reidhead, Anthony Treadwell, Christopher Silker, Angela Treadwell, and Jennifer Holubar, three great-grandchildren, Katlynn Reidhead, Aya Treadwell, and Cameron Reidhead and two sisters, Donna and Sandra of New York. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother Lucius Jr. and an infant daughter Elizabeth.
Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association or donor’s choice.
