Cathleen Anne Belhumer

Cathleen Anne Belhumer, 50, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away in her home on Monday, November 19 after a six month battle with stage four brain cancer.

Cathy was born on June 24, 1968 in Dearborn, Michigan. Her parents, Jacob and Maxine Uitti, and older sister, Sue, helped raise her into the compassionate, hardworking, and witty woman everyone came to know and love. Competitive throughout her childhood on gymnastic teams, she graduated from Kennedy High School in Taylor, Michigan in 1986.

Her huge heart led her to receive a Bachelors of Nursing degree at Northern Michigan University in 1991. While at school she met her husband, Tony Belhumer. Together they moved to Rochester, Minnesota where they had their three kids, Sam (25), Jacob (22), and Sophie (17). She was a nurse at the Mayo Clinic for 28 years.

Cathy had three passions: knitting, spending time with her family, and caring for others as a nurse.

Her memory is carried on by her husband, Tony; children, Sam, Jacob, and Sophie; her sister, Sue (Mike) Tiihonen; sister in laws, Mary Beth (Jim) Graham, Judy (Vince) Conway, and Shirley (Mark) Sumter; brother in law, Ed (Nikki) Belhumer; many nieces and nephews; and her lifelong friend, Tammara Patterson.

She will be joining her mother, Maxine; her father, Jacob; and her big brother, James, in heaven.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 24 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, Minnesota with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.

Condolences

The family of Cathleen Anne Belhumer has received the following condolences.

We are deeply saddened to hear about Cathy's passing.  We are thinking and praying for you during this time of your loss.  A person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they will still be alive in your hearts and minds.

I am still stunned.   Although it had been many years since we had seen each other the friendship was always there.   Cathy’s heart was so amazing, she was one of the kindest people I ever knew.  The world is a little darker now that she is gone.   I have some great college memories.    Rest In Peace Cathy.

Dear Sam, Jake, and family,

We are so sorry for your loss. Cathy was an amazing and kind person and she will be sorely missed.  We hope your fond memories of her will sustain you at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

The loss of a loved one is a very sad and heavy load to bare. May you find comfort at Acts 24:15 "And I have hope toward God, which hope these men also look forward to, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous." Please accept my deepest sympathy, and for more comforting information you may visit jw.org.

i loved this sweet girl!  She had gymnastics with my Cathy and we took her to Florida with our family for senior trip. She will be missed

Dear Tony, Sam, Jacob and Sophie,

We are so very sorry for your loss. We have watched your beautiful work as a family to support Cathy during her treatment journey, which is a manifestation of the rock-solid family and unit that is “the Belhumer Family”. Cathy was such a kind and giving soul. This is how we know you all to be at RRC. May the love and well wishes of all of those who you, and especially Cathy, have touched lift and carry you through the coming weeks.

Much love and peace,

the Grothey’s

I was privileged to have worked with Cathy for many years in Orthopedics. She was a kind, compassionate and caring person.  When I think of Cathy I immediately think of her smile.  She was an amazing nurse and even more amazing person.  My thoughts are with the Belhumee family.

Sam, Sophie and family,

I am so sad for your loss. Your Mom was so young and vital to the Juniors Rowing Club experience.

My prayer is that you have many wonderful memories to sustain you during this very difficult time.

Warmest Regards,

Cookie Kuhle

Tony and family,

We are so sorry for your loss. Sending prayers for strength for you and your family. She took care of my husband after shoulder surgery a few years ago and was so sweet and patient.

The world lost an amazing woman/friend/nurse today. My deepest heartfelt condolences go out to all whose lives she's touched. Cathy was such a special individual. So strong,  compassionate and witty. I'm lucky to have called her my preceptor/mentor/friend. God bless you all. Spread your wings and fly Cathy... We know you'll be watching over us.

Dear Tony, Sam,Jacob and Sophie

My heart breaks for all of you. I worked with Cathy in Ortho and she was dedicated, inspiring, sweet and funny! She talked about her time in gymnastics and even did the splits for us at a calmer time on unit. I’m retired now but she was so proud of all her family. I remember all of you kids coming up to the floor at various times and Sophie as a baby. I remember pictures of vacations, maybe some pictures of mud runs and rowing. You will all have those memories too of wonderful times. Her memory lives on in all of you and us.

Peace and comfort to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear about Cathy's passing. I know she fought so bravely. I was glad to have a chance to see her at our Wednesday night Dunn Brothers knitting gathering over the last few months. She loved fiber crafting and was always someone you could depend on to carpool up to Yarnover. I'll miss her and think of her often.

Dear Tony,

My heart goes out to you and your family on the passing of your wife, know that you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Sincere condolences to the Belhumer family on the loss of a truly wonderful caring person. I was fortunate to meet Cathy when I worked on Station 9-2. It was always a good day when Cathy was working. She will be sorely missed. May the joyful memories help your family through this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to the Belhumer family on the loss of an amazing woman. I worked with Cathy on Ortho for almost 8.5 years, and my heart is deeply saddened that I will no longer see her smiling face. She was not only an incredible coworker and nurse but a sweet friend too. Cathy precepted me when I started on Stations 82/92, and she was always so patient with me. I always thought to myself, how can I be just like her? I was always in awe of how professional she was, and how she shared her passion for nursing with those around her. She was an inspirational person, always approachable, and she always listened to any concerns I had, big or small.  Cathy, you will be missed immensely. Sending all my love and prayers during this difficult time.

Cathy was my preceptor on 9-2 when I started as a nurse. I worked with her for the next 9 years. She was always happy and had a great soul.

Please accept our families condolences

Dear Belhumer Family,

It is with great sorrow that we learned of Cathleen departure from our home town. She was an inspiration to the Rochester Rowing Club and a wonderful treasurer and parent volunteer, who gave so much. We are honored to have shared that time with our kids and her. We are all truly greatful to the love and comfort she gave the rowers when they were cold and tired on a cold rainy regatta day. We will all miss her dearly.  Please accept our deepest condolences.  Vasdev Family
