Carol Rose Keehn

Carol Rose Keehn, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2020 in Rochester, MN. Carol was born August 31, 1933 to Ray and Marie Pelling in Chicago, IL. She graduated from Lourdes Catholic High School in Rochester. On November 22, 1952, Carol married her high school sweetheart, James Keehn, at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester. They raised four children together.

Carol’s most treasured memories are the years her and Jim spent at their beautiful lake home, cruising the Zumbro River on their party pontoon. Carol loved to entertain, hosting the absolute best holiday parties. Carol was an avid reader, always searching for the next best novel. She cherished her time working for the Rochester Public Library, where she met many lifelong friends. Carol had a special place in her heart for animals. Over her lifetime, she rescued many dogs, giving them a wonderful, loving home. For the last few years of her life, she enjoyed watching HGTV, completing complex puzzles, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Left to miss her are her children, James (Glori) Keehn of Wabasha, Jane Keehn of Rochester, and Janell Keehn of Rochester; grandchildren, Matt (Janelle) Lehman of Rochester, Chrissy (Eric) Abraham of Rochester, Tony (Mandy) Thompson of Plainview, and Sarah (Jesse) Gilberto of Mankato. She will also be missed by her siblings, Michael (Elizabeth) Pelling of California, Margie (Pat) Keneally of New York, and many nieces, nephews, and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; daughter, Gail Keehn; and sister, Phyllis Kriehn.

The Keehn family would like to thank the Palliative Care Service, Hospice, and the staff at St. Marys Hospital for the wonderful care Carol received.

A Celebration of Carol’s life will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2020 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.

Joe & Dar asked me to send a message as their residence is in lockdown because of the virus.  The Weis and Keehn family were close friends for many years.  They send their condolences.       Joe & Dar Weis

My dear friend Carol is finally at rest.  I will always remember the great times we had on the Zumbro.  Condolences to family.

you can’t believe all the fun we had at all the roofing conventions attended by Carol and Jim. We spent many nights playing cards with them in Valhalla. She will be missed by many friends she grew to know thru the years. I loved that gal. Gene Pierce

The days at the Rochester Public Library were much brighter the days I worked with Carol, whether on the front desk or in the bookdrop room. I loved her stories. She made me laugh. We never did have that perfect martini, but here’s to you Carol. God bless you. Kristine

I had the pleasure of working with Carol at the library.  We worked an evening shift together for quite a few years.  She would get me laughing so hard at times.  She was a very special lady.  I was just thinking about her the other night...

My thoughts and prayers are with Carol's family.

Enjoyed working with Carol at the Rochester Public Library.  She was so much fun. My thoughts to her family.

I'm so very sorry to hear about the loss of Carol. I worked with her at the Library and she was so much fun to work with!  She always had a story about her dog or a stray cat that showed up on her deck. I know how much she missed your dad so take comfort that she now will be with him for all of time.

I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Carol's death. Especially only a week after Aunt Glenice's. Heaven is getting some pretty special angels! HUG! You are all in my prayers and I will have a Mass said at St Pius for Aunt Carol.

Love,

Nancy
