Carol J. Hoxworth

Carol (Susie) Jeanne Hoxworth, 70, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, at Golden Living Center East in Rochester from complications after suffering from a heart attack.

Susie was born December 11, 1940, in Rochester, MN to Norma Nettie (Makepeace) and Merrill (Sam) David Eyre.   Susie graduated from Rochester High School in 1958. She was employed at Red Owl, Econo Foods, as well as several other Rochester grocery stores.  Susie was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Rochester, baptized on May 12, 1969 and confirmed on May 18, 1969.  She raced snowmobiles and was an auto racing fan of all types, especially the Indy 500.  Susie also enjoyed Vikings football, bird watching and car shows.  She provided a safe home for many stray cats throughout her life, adopting many pets, but none as special as her dog, B.G.

Susie married Herschel Ray Hoxworth on October 3, 1959. Susie is survived by her husband, Herschel Hoxworth of Rochester, also many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Merrill and Norma, her sister Jane, her brothers David, Edward, Michael and Wayne.  A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 9, 11:00 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in SE Rochester with the Rev. Scott R. Schilbe officiating.

Friends and family may visit from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th ST SE., Rochester MN, 282-1075 and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
