Carol Bernice Anderson

On June 28, 2021, Carol Bernice Anderson was welcomed to the hereafter by cherished friends and family who preceded her. After valiantly facing the challenges of Lewy Body Syndrome for several years, added complications from Covid-19 proved to be too much to overcome. Having a strong faith, Carol was at peace with her passing and looked forward to being reunited with her mother & father, Jeanette & Alfred Olson, sister, Avis Skjeie, and husband, Arlen Anderson.

Carol was born in Red Wing, MN, on January 4, 1938, the second of two daughters of a hard-working Christian Norwegian couple. She was raised in St. Paul as a quiet well-mannered girl who excelled in school graduating with the 1955 Class of Monroe High.  Shortly after graduation, she moved to Rochester and met Arlen Anderson who had recently returned from serving in the Korean War. Carol and Arlen wed on April 25, 1959.  Exactly one year later, “Mom” and “Dad” welcomed a son (Larry) as a first anniversary gift. The following year Carol, Arlen, and Larry welcomed baby Ron as an early Christmas gift to complete the family.

Carol was a wonderful, selfless, caring woman who always placed the care and wellbeing of her loved ones above her own. She was a devoted daughter, loving wife and wonderful mother who was the embodiment of unconditional love, service, and sacrifice. Although she always viewed being a wife and mother as her primary mission in life, she was highly valued for her secretarial skills and kept numerous offices running smoothly during her professional career. In her later years she was a wonderful grandmother and great grandmother who was loved and cherished by neighbors and caregivers (many of whom called her “Mom”) for her gentle selfless soul.

She will be missed dearly by her two sons, Larry & Ron Anderson; daughter-in law, Ivy Anderson; grandson, Kendall Anderson; granddaughter-in-law, Charle’ya Mack; granddaughter, Lauren Klug; great grandsons, Kaden, Ca’mari & Kai Anderson and Ethan Just; nieces and nephews, Julie Hemker, Marcy Goodman, Peggy Weeks, Teri Hilker & Jo Ellen, K.C. & John Klug.  Although she will be missed, she will live on in our hearts and memories and in the long lingering hugs we share with our loved ones as Carol was a world class hugger. We love you!

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday, July 12, 2021, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be half an hour prior to the service on Monday.  Carol’s service will be live streamed and recorded.  Please click on the link to view her service online.  https://youtu.be/n3prz_oK_bQ

In lieu of flowers, Carol’s wishes were to have donations made to the Lutheran World Relief at https://www.lwr.org/legacy.

Condolences

The family of Carol Bernice Anderson has received the following condolences.

Condolences to the Anderson family.

I knew Carol as a young neighbor girl in the 1960’s. Arlen and Carol were good friends of my mom, and dad, Bob and Fran Nereson. We lived next door. I babysat for her young boys.

Cherish your memories, and find peace in knowing she is with Arlen.
