Carol Ann (Stimpert) Gibson

Carol Ann (Stimpert) Gibson, 92, of Rochester, MN passed away peacefully with family at her side on Tuesday, April 21, 2026 at Edenbrook Pine Haven Care Center in Pine Island, MN.

Carol was born June 20, 1933 to Margaret (Hildebrandt) Stimpert and Herbert Stimpert in Freeport, Ill. Margaret died of tuberculosis when Carol was very young and she was raised by her Stepmother, Ruth and Herb Stimpert.

Carol married the love of her life, Gerald Gibson on August 15, 1954. They were married 67 years and enjoyed a very full life with family, friends and travelling-much of it in a camper. They also spent their retirement winters in Florida with their son David and his family.

She will be remembered for her beautiful smile and kind, happy spirit. Some of her favorite hobbies were reading, crossword puzzles, card games, and most of all, the gift of gab. She also enjoyed cooking and baking for others.

Carol graduated High School in 1952 in Freeport Ill. in 1952. She then attended school in Kansas City to work for Pan American Airlines in Chicago. In Rochester, she had various jobs- working at Golden Hill Elementary School, The License Bureau, and small stores.

Carol is survived by her three sons; Randy Gibson (Jeanne); Scott Gibson (Debbie); David Gibson (DeAnn) and five grandchildren, Tyler Gibson, Tony Gibson, Mark Gibson, Mollie Gibson, Megan Karasek; and one great grandson, Brecken Karasek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Gibson; parents Margaret and Herbert Stimpert, Stepmother Ruth Stimpert; sisters Barb Berman and Toni Meyers; brother William Stimpert.

The family would like to thank Pine Haven staff (you truly made her stay feel like home) and Mayo Hospice for their outstanding, compassionate care.

A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the River Park Reception Hall at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester. In lieu of flowers, a donation to your favorite charity is welcome
