Carl L. Runge

The funeral service for Carl L. Runge will be at 1:00pm on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Greg Heidorn officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens with military honors. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm ~ 7:00pm on Monday, December 20th in the new River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Mr. Runge, 83, passed away on Monday, December 13, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester from complications of a recent stroke.

Carl was born on January 2, 1927 in Harmony Minnesota to Carl and Louise (Hass) Runge.  On March 19, 1948, he married Marie J. Solem in Colorado Springs, CO.   The couple resided in Rochester for many years.  Carl worked as a sheet metal worker for Alpek and Woodhouse Brothers until his retirement in 1982.  Carl was also a proud United States Marine Corps. Veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Marie; three daughters, Bonnie (Mark) Shult of North Mankato, MN, Carla Firnschild of San Francisco, CA and Bertha (Kelly) Wilson of Hardin, KY; 4 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Ruth Klomp of Tucson, AZ, Anita Runge of Harmony, MN and one brother Millard Runge of Harmony, MN.  He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 grand daughter, 1 brother, and 2 sisters.

Carl enjoyed woodworking, building grandfather clocks, gardening and reading the Bible.
