Brian W. Daly

Brian Daly, 56, of Rochester, Minnesota, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, as a result of a massive heart attack while in route to LaCrosse, WI.

Brian was born on November 15, 1960, and spent his life in Rochester, graduating in 1979 from Lourdes High School, and receiving a degree in Physical Education from Mankato State University in 1983.  One of his proudest moments was receiving the Excellence Award from the Lourdes Sports Hall of Fame in 2013 for his outstanding participation on the 1978-81 Cross Country State Championship Teams. He is the dearly beloved husband of Jill (Meyer).

Brian was a great husband, son, brother, cousin, uncle and friend to many, and will be deeply missed for his passionate sense of humor, great stories, excellent golf game, and devotion to the Vikings.  His love for, and devotion to, his dogs and those of friends and family was well-known, and they will miss his playfulness as well.

He is survived by his parents; Joe and Lugene Daly of Rochester, and his siblings;  Mike (Sue Toffanetti), Mark, Molly (Steve) Nierman, Pat, John, Rick and Colleen “Mary”.  He is also survived by his wife’s family; Gilbert and Shirley Meyer, Judson Meyer, Gaye (Ron) McCann, Staci (John) Veenker, Jennifer (Mat Browne) Meyer, and many special nieces and nephews.

A funeral Mass is scheduled for 11:00AM on Monday, December 19th at Pax Christi Catholic Church (4135 18th Avenue NW Rochester) with the Rev. Joe Fogal officiating. A visitation will be held from 1:00PM to 4:00PM on Sunday, December 18 at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass on Monday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to Paws and Claws of Rochester.

Condolences

The family of Brian W. Daly has received the following condolences.

It is my prayer that the family and friends of Mr. Daly may find comfort in our promised future. Revelation 21:3,4

Jill,

geoff and I are so sad about Brian's passing. !  Your, (the Daly family) holds such fun . Such solidarity. ( it was so meaningful to have all of the siblings stand erect, with love and respect, for Rick  , as He spoke his words about Brian.).  Geoff and I have been privileged to have been invited into a sneak peek of this rare clan.  Always fun, because Brian and Mike (And , well , all of the others!!) made sure of this.  And his parents.

I am sorry that I didn't get a chance to visit with you, at the service.  You were so constantly sorrounded.

This  is a chance to say, that I, we, are lucky to know Brian, and you.  Your joint admiration and devotion was evident.

Geoff had so much fun with Our Mike, Rick and Brian , on the links.  He came back with laughs, to share.  Lots of them. That's pure.

it was a lovely service.

Our love to you, Jill.  And admiration to your Brian.

Lucy and Geoff Dodd

I am soooo sorry to hear of Brian's passing!  Brian was one of the first people I met when I moved to Rochester.  He contributed to my 'assimilation' to Mayo being one of the people to train me at the DAHLC.  I could count on Brian always making me laugh or smile every single time I saw him.  My prayers to Jill and his family.

Jill,

I am so sorry for your loss. Prayers for you and family.

Jill,

I am so very sorry for your loss. I just found out and I wish I could have been there. I am sending out prayers and love to you.

Love you,

Sherri

Jill,  I am so sorry for your loss.  He will be missed by all who loved him.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and the family.  Deepest sympathy and our heart felt condolences .

Jill - I was lucky enough to meet Brian "Big Guy" through Kevin Allen, Mark Sybilrud and Jeff Taylor - during my freshman year at Mankato State (1982). Although our paths crossed for a short period of time Brian was a lot of fun and good man. I am so sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Brian,

I got to know you in 9th grade and we became great friends.  You taught me to live life, enjoy today, and to dream about tomorrow.  We had great times together and even as the miles and years separated us, you were close in my memories.  I enjoyed the times we got to reconnect and again enjoy our friendship.  I will miss you greatly buddy.

Our hearts and prayers go out to the entire Daly Clan at this time. Be strong and keep the faith. Joe and Dina Goode (Milwaukee, WI)

Jill, Joe and Tris, and all of the Daly families--I was so sorry to hear of Brian's death. I don't know the details, but how remarkable that he had the presence of mind and obvious commitment to those he was serving that he ensured their safety as he was experiencing such a dire moment. I will always remember and admire Brian as the one who danced to his own drummer, a bit different than the rest of a big family. He found his way with joy and courage to be such an engaging, special person He always made you feel like his sole focus when he was with you. I hope you are comforted by the many memories of how Brian made all of our lives better, even as you mourn his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Oh Mike. I can't tell you how sorry I am. My prayers are with you and your family tonight and for days to come. This will be a difficult time for all of you and my heart hurts for all of you. Please know that I'm thinking about all of you, and let me know if there is anything that I can do. My love to you!!!

I am so sorry to hear about Brian.  My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tris and Joe, our thoughts and prayers are with you.  Although we didn't know your son, we have a son the same age and so we realize the devestation you must be feeling.  Sending you our love,
