Brandon J. Schmeichel

Brandon James “Schmikes” Schmeichel, age 42, of Rochester, Minnesota, died Saturday, January 24, 2026, at his home.

Brandon was born August 26, 1983, in Austin, Minnesota, to James and Debra (Becker) Schmeichel. He graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester in 2002 and spent most of his life in the Rochester area.

Brandon had a gift for lighting up any room he walked into. His quick wit, infectious laugh, and natural ability to make people feel at ease left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, playing golf, going to Minnesota Vikings games, grilling, and especially helping anyone whenever he could.

Faith and service were central to Brandon’s life. He was deeply committed to his church and his relationship with Christ. Brandon was a devoted sponsor and mentor to many, offering guidance, encouragement, and unwavering support to those walking their own recovery journeys.

Brandon was especially proud of being a dad and uncle. His children brought him his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in being a constant, loving presence in their lives. He was also a devoted uncle who treasured time with his nephews.

Brandon is survived by his parents, James and Debra Schmeichel; his children, Brad Schmeichel, Noah and Bethany Bonsell; his sister, Sarah Schmeichel; and his nephews, Ryan and Braeden Schmeichel.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Richard and Norma (Schoaf) Schmeichel; maternal grandparents, Arthur and Ethel (Trogstad) Becker; his uncle, Robert Becker; aunt, Margaret (Kvasnicka) Becker; and cousins Scot Becker, Brad Becker, and Sam Becker.

A Celebration of Life for Brandon will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at 11:00AM at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
