Bonnie Jean Mickelson

Bonnie Jean Mickelson, 81, passed away Sunday, June 30 at Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN.

Bonnie was born January 12, 1938 in Grand Meadow, MN to Harvey & Helen (Palmer) Durhman. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School in 1956. On September 15, 1957 she married Clinton T. (Kink) Mickelson at the Grand Meadow Lutheran Church. Her Husband preceded her in death on April 15, 1994.

She was employed by Olmsted County for 31 years working in Community Services for 18 years and 13 years in the Department of Human Resources. She retired on May 31, 2000.

Bonnie is survived by three sons, Jeffrey P. (Dawn), Thomas A. (Lori), and Troy P. (Pam) Mickelson all of Rochester; grandchildren, Joshua Davis (Andrea Wittlief), Chelsea Mickelson (Christopher Fischer), Brooke (Benn) Grenz, Taylor (Rachel) Mickelson, Francesca Mickelson, and T. Palmer Mickelson; great-grandchildren, Easton Davis, and Bristol Grenz. She is also survived by her brother, Darwyn (Annette) Durhman of Rochester; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Naomi Goodsell.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Madonna Meadows, Madonna Towers, and Mayo Hospice for the loving care they gave our mother and grandmother.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019 at Zumbro Lutheran Church. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 8, 2019 at Zumbro Lutheran Church with Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Monday. Burial will be in Grand Meadow Cemetery.

It was so nice getting to know Bonnie at Madonna. She was a good friend to my mother and she will be missed. We always had fun chatting at dinner and playing Scrabble. I enjoyed hearing her talk about her life, career, children and grand children. God bless.

I have had the pleasure of seeing Bonnie every week over the last several months when I visited my mom at Madonna.  I really enjoyed knowing her and will miss our visits.  Blessings to Bonnie and all her family.
