Bobby Joe Viker
Bobby Joe Viker, 54, of Rochester, MN passed away on October 17th, 2016, after a long-fought struggle with an illness. With loved ones by his side, he passed away peacefully at Saint Marys’ Hospital, Mayo Clinic Campus.
Mr. Viker was born on November 30th, 1961 to Norman and Verda Viker. He was raised in Rock dell, MN and eventually moved to Rochester to live the rest of his life. While living in Rochester, he met the love of his life, Patricia Whipple and married October 8th, 1988 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Five years later they started their family and had two daughters. Bobby worked at Econofoods for 18 years as a shift manager and finished his career working in building maintenance at Meadow Park Apartments.
Bobby enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his friends and family by being an avid hunter and fisherman. He savored time with family grilling and telling stories. Throughout his life he loved playing and watching many sports. Bobby also cherished the few years he had with his grandson.
Mr. Viker is survived by his wife of 28 years, Patricia; daughter, Sarah J. of Kasson, MN; daughter, Katharine L. of Rochester, MN; brother, Darwin (Tekla) Viker of Austin, MN; brother, Eugene Viker of Rochester, MN; brother, Roger Viker of Rochester, MN; brother, Larry (Patricia) Viker of Zumbro Falls, MN; brother, Dennis (Bonnie) Kent of Elizabethville, PA; sister, Deb (Gary) Helberg of Faribault, MN; sister, Beverly (Richard) Williams of Pinetown, NC; sister, Rita (Robert) Wren of Bradley, IL. Bobby had one grandson, Quincy O. Wilson. His parents Norman E. and Verda M. precede him in death
Visitation will be held from 5:00pm – 8:00pm Thursday, October 20th, 2016 at Macken Funeral Home’s River Park Chapel in Rochester, MN. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 21st, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church. Pastor Joel Haak will be officiating, and the burial will be at East St. Olaf Cemetery in Rock Dell, MN.
