Beverly L. Spratte

Rochester – Beverly Lavonne Spratte, 79, of Rochester, died Thursday, October 1, 2009 at her home with family at her side.  She had bravely fought cancer for a year and a half.

Born Beverly Anderson on November 21, 1929, in St. Marys Hospital, to Frances and Orlando Anderson, she lived in Rochester nearly her entire life.    On January 20, 1950, she married Robert Spratte.  Mr. Spratte passed away on July 27, 2002.

Mrs. Spratte along with her husband owned the North Broadway Dairy Queen in Rochester from 1965 – 2002.  The store was the first Dairy Queen in Minnesota and was established in 1947 by LeRoy and Leona Spratte. The Dairy Queen is still owned and operated by her son, Tim Spratte.

Mrs. Spratte is survived by her children; Deborah (Luis) Iniguez, Tom Spratte, Diana (Terry) Cowden, Tim (Pat) Spratte, Denise (Matt) Syring all of Rochester and Todd (Peg) Spratte of Waukesha WI.; 18 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, Richard Anderson of Braham, MN; 2 sisters-in-law, Faye Anderson of Spring Valley, MN and Signe Anderson of Fargo, ND.

Mrs. Spratte enjoyed antiquing, sewing, reading, extensive traveling, photography, occasional trips to casinos and wintering in Florida.  She enjoyed spending time with her family.  She had been a volunteer for Catholic Charities and also volunteered at the St. Marys Hospital gift shop.

A Memorial Mass will be held on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 11:00AM at Pax Christi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Keefe officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday, October 4, 2009 from 4:00PM – 7:00PM at Macken Funeral Home and 1 hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
