Beverly H. Gill

Beverly Henry Gill passed away peacefully in her home on December 27, 2020, 3 days before her 97th birthday. Bev was born to James and Carrie Henry on a farm near Dover, Minnesota on December 30th, 1923.

Bev enjoyed growing up on the farm, helping her dad outside a lot, and even learning to drive a tractor at a very young age. She remembers, at the age of twelve, driving her mother, who never learned to drive, to visit relatives in Brooklyn Center, MN. After graduating from Dover High School Bev worked at Mayo Clinic for 6 years.

Bev met her future husband Robert (Bob) Gill when he gave her and two other girls a ride home from the roller skate rink in St. Charles, MN. They dated for several years and were married on May 25, 1946, after Bob was discharged from the Navy having served during WWII. They lived together in Rochester for over 73 years, raising three sons and establishing and working in the businesses, Robert Gill Realtor- Builder, founded in 1963, and Northern Lights & Furnishings, founded in 1977. Bev felt a deep loss when Bob died September 3, 2019, but she constantly reminded her family that she and Bob had a wonderful life for which she could not be more thankful.

Beverly is survived by her three sons, Gregory (Jill) of Rochester, Kirk (Jennie Wilson) of Rochester, and Lincoln of Whitefish, MT; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; her brother, Lincoln Henry of Rochester; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Burton Henry, her sisters Evelyn Lenn and Charlotte Dickerson, and an infant daughter.

Fond memories and prayers are the best remembrances that can be given at this time.

Bev was a wonderful person and I feel blessed to have known her.  When we were neighbors on 7 1/2 Ave. I got to know her pretty well.  We women had our weekly coffee hour.  She always had a very positive attitude and rarely was without a smile on her face.  She lived a good long life and will be missed by all who knew her.  May God bless all of the family as you grieve her passing.

My good friend Bev was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known.  We became very close over the last several years.  We got together often at their house.  We had so much in common.  Our husbands loved baseball and always had things to talk about especially talking about the old Southern Minny league and American Legion ball which Bob was very active in and supported, while my husband had coached both their son and our son.  Bev and I loved to talk about our kids and grandkids.  I'm going to miss those talks for sure  and Bev who usually ended our phone calls by saying I love you to me.  And of course the feeling was mutual. Bev was an example to me of a person who lived her life as we all should and now she is in Heaven reunited with husband Bob.  I will miss her forever.

My condolences to the Gill and Henry families on the passing of Beverly Gill. She was a kind soul, and lived a beautiful life.

Dear Gill family-

My deepest sympathies to you all for the loss of your mom. She was a wonderful lady! Your parents were great friends with my parents (Birgy and Iva Rolstad) for 70+ years and had many good times together, from early hockey games to dinners at Michael’s. They were so kind to visit my dad as he became home bound and your mom called my mom often after dad passed. I was blessed to visit with Bev last winter (before Covid). We reminisced for hours over stories she had about the 4 of them (some I never heard) and had great laughs. Your mom was always positive and had kind words for everyone. Parents are a tough loss!
May you find comfort knowing your mom has reunited with your dad, family and friends that were waiting for her. They will all be celebrating New Years Eve together.

So sorry to hear about the death of your mother recently and your father last year.  I will always remember the

youth baseball days at Silver Lake Park. Those were really fun times. I still exchange Christmas cards with

John and Helen Scheid. Actually spent some time with them at their house a few years ago. You were blessed to have your

parents with you for many years. I hope you brothers will always stay close. Family and friends are all that really

matter in life.

Take care

Dear Kirk and family,

I am so sorry to read that your mom passed away. Although I didn’t know her, I know you, and it’s obvious she was a fine woman indeed.

I’ll be thinking of you and your family in the days ahead. I have no doubt she must have been a very proud mom!

Your friend,

Anne

Greg, Jill, Kirk, Jennie, and Lincoln,

Bev Gill  1923 - 2020 and in that dash, their was a positive woman who was thankful, loving, active, and cared about the betterment of others.  All of that was shared with you and I was also blessed to gain her insight into living.  Why be angry when you can be happy?  Take care of your mental, emotional, and physical self.  Wear a white shirt and tie if you feel like it!!! Have popcorn for dinner!  Support your kids in whatever activities they choose.  Mop the floors on Thursday... if Thursday works for you! Smile at others because you don't know who needs one.  You all have SO MANY memories to hold and to draw from.  Hugs to you all.  Take care of each other.. the way Bob and Bev would do it.  Love, Patty

Our deepest sympathy to the entire Gill Family. We have many fond memories of Beverly.
