Beverly Ann Radio

Beverly Ann Radio, age 94, passed away on May 6, 2018.

Bev was born in La Salle, Illinois on February 12, 1924.  She was born to be a dedicated daughter, sister, wife and mother and devoted her entire life to her family.  Her home was always immaculate and welcoming to friends and relatives and the friends of her five children.

Bev married Michael Radio on June 22, 1946, shortly after he returned from serving his country during World War II and they remained devoted to each other for more than 71 years.  They raised five children and supported them in every activity in which they participated.

She was a woman of deep faith.  For many years she attended daily Mass with her husband Mike and made regular retreats for Catholic Women at the Rochester Motherhouse.

Bev and Mike were avid dancers and dominated the dance floor whenever there was music at a gathering of family or friends.  They especially enjoyed dancing to the music of the big bands during their courtship and throughout their long lives together.  They were always in perfect step with each other on the dance floor, in raising their family and on the major decisions of life.  The only time they became active competitors with each other was at the family ping-pong table where their matches were always lively and entertaining.

Bev and Mike were also partners in their home-based craft business for many years with Bev providing many counted cross-stitch products, baby blankets and comforters.

Bev was an excellent cook and baker and enjoyed sewing and reading.  She left family members countless pictures, cards and bookmarks graced by her gift for coloring which she took up later in life.

Bev is survived by her husband; children, Suzanne (David) Finkelstein, Bill (Deb) Radio, Peggy Radio, Nancy (Bernie) Matzek and Kathy (Donnie) Gibson; her eleven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Bev was preceded in death by her parents, Vince and Anna Jones; and her four siblings Marty, Ken, Rita and Pat.

A funeral Mass will be held at 12:30 pm Friday, May 11 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Rochester  with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday, May 10 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with prayer service at 6:30 pm. Visitation will also be held one half hour prior to the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Season’s Hospice in Rochester. Click Here for a direct link to Season’s Hospice

Condolences

The family of Beverly Ann Radio has received the following condolences.

To Bill and the entire Radio family,

While I never met your mom, I know without a doubt that she was a wonderful person. This is based on the many years that you and I worked together at Missouri River Energy Services. While you were my boss, the more important thing is that you were (and are) a friend. Your kindness, honesty, and compassion were unwavering, not just with me, but, at least as far as I could see, with everyone you encountered. I'm sure those attributes are serving you well in your current role as a deacon. Your kind of character doesn't just happen. It is nurtured, beginning with parents. That's why I'm sure that Beverly was a great mom and I know she will be missed. May God's peace be with you, Bill, and with your dad, and your entire family.

Roger King

Bill and Family

Sorry to hear of your mom's passing.  As our mom's were always one of the biggest influences in our lives, I know that there is a hole in your heart because of your loss.  I also know that you are a testimony to your mom's faith, and because of this testimony and resulting faith in Jesus,  we will all get to meet your mom someday in the future.  I pray that God will comfort you and your family through the grieving process and that you will be encouraged by our saviors promise of eternal life through a relationship with Jesus.  Heb. 5:4.

What a beautifully written tribute to a life well lived.  While I didn't know Bev personally, I knew her son Bill and can say, she passed along to Bill many of the traits attributed to her, and experienced by many in the MRES family in working with Bill.  Condolences to the family.

Kathy,

I am so sorry for your loss.   I will deeply miss seeing Bev at the dental office.  I always looked forward to getting a warm hug from her.  It was such a pleasure to have met such a beautiful person.

Give your dad a big hug for me!  My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Savay

Dear Kathy and the entire Radio Family,

Condolences on the death of your Mom.  I remember her being very energetic!  Kathy you probably inherited your speed from her when we use to run track at Lourdes.

I am sure she will be missed by many.

Take care,

Rita (Sell) Marquardt

I have many fond memories Beverly Radio. She carpooled us many days to Lourdes High School and always had a cheerful energetic attitude. She raised wonderful children, and her love story with her husband was obvious to all. They have always had such dedication to each other.

Sorry for you lost, praying for your family, may they find comfort in this time of sorrow.

Peggy,

So sorry to hear of the passing of your mom.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

Stan

Peggy, I am speaking for the DA family in wishing you and your family my deepest condolences on the passing of you mother.  I know that you were a very devoted daughter and can take a little bit of comfort in that fact that you took good care of your parents.  Again, my condolences and don't hesitate to reach out if there is anything that i can do.

Bob

Praying for you and the family. Wish I could’ve been there. Eternal rest grant unto Beverly O Lord!  May she Rest In Peace. Love and prayers, Fr Mark Lichter

My heart just aches for you Mike, and the rest of your wonderful family. Such a joy and honor to even know Beverly. So soft spoken and warm, the kindest heart and just a delight to be around. Your marriage was the absolute epitome of love, such an amazing example of what marriage should be... filled with so much adoration and dancing in the living room. (Love hearing about those memories)

Much love and hugs to you.
