Bernice McIntosh
Bernice McIntosh, 80, went to be with the Lord on April 21, 2017. She passed away at home peacefully with her daughters and sister by her side.
Bernice was born September 2, 1936 in Rochester, MN to Herman and Gladys (Klomps) Vehrenkamp. On June 17, 1954 she married Richard McIntosh in Memphis, TN. In 1956 they moved to Eyota, MN and then to Rochester where they resided. Her husband passed away in 1996.
Bernice loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed going to her grandkids hockey and baseball games, rarely missing any. She also enjoyed going up north on vacation where she would spend the week fishing with her family and grandkids. She was very proud of her amazing rose garden. She was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church, taking pride in being the oldest charter member of her church.
She is survived by her two daughters, Deb (Art) Pacheco, of Stewartville, and Vicki (Dave) Strain, of Rochester; five grandchildren, Nate (Jenny) Bastian, of Stewartville, Joe (Nicole) Bastian, of Japan, Dan (Bobbi) Bastian of Zumbro Falls, Kelly (Dane) Ahlstrom, of Rochester, and Jim (Shelby) Strain, of Rochester; nine great-grandchildren, Brady, Cody, Kyson, Bowen, Ava, Shay, Lylah, Max, and Owen. She is also survived by three brothers and one sister, David (Nancy) Vehrenkamp, Clyde (Sally) Vehrenkamp, Floyd (Gert) Vehrenkamp, and Mary Ann Cummings; one brother-in-law, Dennis McNeill; many nieces and nephews; as well as many friends and neighbors.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and stepfather Robert Dickinson.
There will be a memorial service on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, 2904 20th Street SE, Rochester, MN with Pastor Scott Schilbe officiating. The gathering of Bernice’s family and friends will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM with service at 11:00AM followed by a luncheon at the church. There will be a private burial for immediate family.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Pastor Schilbe and the church and a special thank you to Seasons Hospice for their help and support. Memorial are suggested to Christ Lutheran Church.
