Barbara Lu Cutting Poffenberger

Barbara Lu Cutting Poffenberger 88, Babbitt, MN died on Monday, December 28, 2020 of cancer at her winter home in Tucson, AZ.

During her high school days, she was a cheerleader, homecoming queen, and actively involved in music playing snare drum in the concert and marching band and piano in the swing band for area proms and dances.

She attended Minneapolis School of Business and was employed at the Mayo Clinic as a secretary in 1951. She married Gerald Poffenberger in 1952, and in 1954 they moved with their infant son to Babbitt which became their home from that point on.

Barbara worked at the Babbitt Bank as secretary to the President until retirement. She belonged to the Rebekah Lodge, loved swing dancing and other types of dance, and worked endlessly as a volunteer for community events. She became an avid golfer and good one too.

She is survived by her brother, Jay Dee (Joyce) Cutting and sister Terri O’Brien; 2 grandchildren Tiffany (Cullen) Houser, and Lacey (James) Jelle; and 6 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one son Gary and her parents.
