Barb was born March 8, 1960, in Austin, MN to Arlin and Marcine (Wollenberg) Schultz. She grew up in Austin and graduated from Austin High School in 1978. Barb attended Austin Community College and Mankato State University, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. Barb was employed at Mayo Clinic for 38 years holding various positions during that time.
Barb enjoyed traveling, reading, gardening, crafts, and being a doting aunt to her nephew and niece, Ben and Megan. Some of her favorite trips were to Australia, Italy, Hawaii, The Bahamas, Disney World (numerous times), and a bicycle trip touring the California Wine Country. Barb participated in the Festival of Trees event for many years where she and two friends decorated Christmas trees to raise money for Hiawatha Homes. Barb also volunteered and supported the Eagles Cancer Telethon and Special Olympics.
Barb is survived by her two sisters, Lori (Thomas) Hintz of Rochester and Karie Schultz (Mark Hanson) of Austin; one nephew, Ben Hintz (Codie Myers) of Dickinson, ND; one niece, Megan Hintz of Anchorage, AK; uncle Warren Wollenberg (Lynette Kopperud) of Edina; aunt Gloria Schultz of Watertown, SD; many wonderful cousins and great friends. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Verdell (Buck) Schultz.
There will be a private family burial at Grandview Cemetery, Austin, MN at a later date.
Thank you to Seasons Hospice for their kindness and wonderful care of Barb during her illness. Thank you also to Barb’s friends and coworkers who visited her and brightened her days. You are very special people, and Barb was blessed to call you friends. Barb did not die of cancer; she lived with cancer.

Condolences
The family of Barbara E. Schultz has received the following condolences.
Barb was a wonderfully genuine person. I particularly enjoyed her straightforward nature that always cracked me up. As others have said, she was a true expert at her work. I will also remember the fun but exhausting times we had "climbing the clinic." Barb was the type of person you never forget. Safe journey, Barb!
My condolences to Barb's family. I graduated from Austin High the same year as Barb. We had a few classes together and went out a couple times to a movie. Barb was always happy and had a big smile. later on when I worked at Mayo Clinic in a different department, I saw her walking in the halls and would speak to her. She was a wonderful person. She is lighting up Heaven with her smile.

I am so sorry for your incredible loss. Barb was a wonderful lady who I am so glad to have met. We shared the love of Dragon basketball, family and unfortunately the experience of cancer. My heart hurts for you, her family as you are going to miss your sister/aunt so much. But my heart rejoices that Barb is free of struggles and pain. May God bless you all in your grief and bring you to peace knowing Barb is and always be a part of each one of you. Sending much love to you all.
Deepest condolences. I worked with Barb some years ago at Mayo we both started about the same time . she was really kind and a lovely human .
My sympathies to all of Barb's family. Each of you were very special to her. She talked about you all. I worked with Barb for many years and I have a son with Down's Syndrome and we shared many Buck/Trevor stories. Even when I went to visit her in hospice, all those stories came forward again. Barb & I also took a CPA refresher course together. She was very knowledgeable and kind person to work with and be around. She is now with Buck and the rest of the family telling stories. God bless you Barb on this next journey!
Dear Lori and Karie,
Knowing your sister since I was two days old was a privilege and living on 2nd Street with all of you was a wonderful way to spend my youth. I can easily hear your brother’s voice shouting “Redhead, it’s for you” when I phoned and your Dad’s hidden laugh when he called me “Crash” every time I showed up at the back door. You girls along with your dear sister, Barb, provided me countless days of fun and laughter and I am ever grateful. My heart reaches out to you during this time of loss and I pray you find peace though you mourn. Don’t ever forget me because my memories are locked in forever, my friends.
I was so sad to hear about Barb's passing. I first met Barb when she took over my job in the Medicare Unit at Mayo and I moved to a different job. We had many contacts over the years because of work and I traveled to Italy on the same trip as she. Barb was a wonderful person--fun to be around with a great laugh and a great attitude. She will be missed! Jenniene Rogers

To the family of Barb Schultz
When I first met Barb working on Medicare, she always had a smile and willing to help. Her knowledge was highly sought by many. Her laugh made a person smile. She will be missed but we will hold on to the precious moments and memories we had and look forward to when we get to see each other again. My thoughts and prayers are with all whom she touched.
To Barb's family, thoughts and prayers and condolences to you all.
Growing up with Barb and riding the bus together and then we worked together in the Medicare department. A book of knowledge for the rules and regulations of claims.
So glad we had the luncheon at Beetles for you and to catch up as they say. Heaven gained a wonderful person ❤️. We will miss you.
My condolences to the family and friends of Barb as they grieve her loss.
I have never met Barb face to face, but I had talked to her on the phone multiple times at the Mayo Clinic Help Desk. I was sad to hear the news of her passing. She was a sweet soul and continued to be strong and determined in the conversations we had as we fixed her technical issues. And, I do remember hearing her smile through the phone as she excitedly told me about her trips to Disney.
Again, I am sorry for your loss.
Thoughts and Prayers,
Jami

My thoughts and prayers got out to Barb's family. I was one of the lucky ones to be able to say I worked with Barb at the Mayo Clinic. Barb was one of those people who could brighten everyone's day with her fun and laughter. She will be so very missed.by all.
Safe journey Barb to your heavenly home. Good friend & coworker! You graced our world.
I’m so saddened to hear this. I worked with Barb earlier in my career at Mayo. Over the years I’d bump into her now and again. She always had a smile and time for a quick chat. Seems like it was not too long ago I was on campus and visited with her. She shared her cancer battle with strength and grace. Grateful for the hug that day. My sympathies to you all. Jackie
