Ater Diar Manyang

The funeral service for Ater Manyang will be Saturday April 2, 2016 at 3:00PM at Zumbro Lutheran Church with Rev. Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service with the burial at Oakwood Cemetery immediately following.

Ater, 24, of Rochester, passed away on March 18, 2016 in St. Peter, Minnesota.

He was born on December 17, 1991 in Khartoum, Sudan. In 1999 Ater moved to Egypt with his mother and younger brothers. In 2000 they moved to Houston, Texas. In 2007 his mother passed away, and then he moved to Rochester with his brothers to live with their aunt.

Ater played men’s basketball at Century High School and graduated in 2007. After graduation, he attend St. John Military Academy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Survivors include two brothers, Akolda & Kangor Manyang; three aunts; one uncle and very many cousins. He was preceded in death by his mother, Amer Jok.

The family of Ater Diar Manyang has received the following condolences.

My deepest condolences to all of Ater's family. I graduated from Century with Ater and his warm, welcoming smile was something I looked forward to seeing everyday at school. He will be deeply missed. Sending all of you my prayers. 

I am sorry for your loss. My son, Tyler, played baseball at Century with Ater.
