Arnold Truman Jorgenson

Arnold Truman Jorgenson passed away on Monday, August 8, 2011 at Olmsted Medical Hospital in Rochester from pneumonia.

He was born June 6, 1925 at the family farm in Rock Dell to Alvin and Cora (Stevens) Jorgenson.  Arnold served in the US Armed Forces from February 1945 to December 14, 1946.  He married Mildred Helen Kipp on December 16, 1950.  They were married for 60 years.  Arnold worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation in Rochester for 43 years.  He started as a road grader and worked himself up to purchasing manager.  He was always happy to get up and go to work each day of his job.  After his retirement he helped his brother, Elmer, on the farm in Rock Dell.  He was in his glory when he could get out on the John Deere tractor to do field work.

Arnold was baptized and confirmed at East St. Olaf Church.  He was a devoted Christian and a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church of Rochester for 50 years.  Each Sunday he opened all the Sunday school rooms over the years.  He was an usher and looked forward to helping out at the church.  This was his way to praise his Lord.

Arnold is survived by his loving wife, Mildred; brothers, Elmer of Rock Dell, Junior (Donna) of Hayfield; Norman (Sharon) of St. Paul; sisters, Melvina Fjerstad of Kasson and Carol Briggs of Oronoco.  He is preceded in death by a sister Lucille Fjerstad, a brother Palmer Jorgenson and two infant brothers.

Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00PM Thursday, August 11, 2011 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00AM, Friday, August 12, 2011 at Zumbro Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.  Burial will be at East St. Olaf Cemetery in Rock Dell with military rites provided by American Legion Post 92.

Memorials are suggested to Zumbro Lutheran Church, East St. Olaf Church or donors choice.  Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.  Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.
