Ann E. Carroll

Ann Elizabeth Carroll, 83, passed away peacefully at Charter House on Saturday, August 13, 2016.

She was born in Kansas City, Kansas on September 10, 1932 to Mark and Catherine (Kay) Carroll.

A funeral Mass will be offered at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 17 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester.  A rosary will be prayed at 9:00am and visitation to follow at 9:30am at the church.

Ann was a 1950 graduate of Lourdes High School. During those High School years, she helped her parents and brother, Donald, at “The MarKay”, a popular Rochester dining spot opened by her parents in 1948.

Miss Carroll received her nursing degree from St. Anthony College, Rockford, Ill.  Shortly after beginning her nursing career at Olmsted County Hospital, she embraced the opportunity to train in anesthesia at Mayo Clinic in the late 1950s.  Ann worked at Mayo as a nurse anesthetist until her retirement.  She was well-respected among her colleagues.  Her great love for medicine, attention to detail in patient care, and a desire for understanding and controlling diabeteswas her way of life.

After her retirement, Ann enjoyed traveling the world and sharing her travel stories.  Animals had a very special place in her heart, especially her childhood horse and poodles.

Ann is survived by her brother Donald, who lives at Charter House. She was preceded in death by her mother and father.

Family and friends would like to extend a special thanks to the Charter House and Seasons Hospice staff for their compassionate care.

Memorials are suggested to the Missionary Sisters of St. Peter Claver.
