Andrew J. “Newt” Neuman

Mr. Neuman, age 69, of Rochester, MN died of natural causes on Monday, July 19th, 2021 at his residence. Andy was born May 10th, 1952 in Rochester, MN to Andrew Clarence “AC” and Clarice (Reidt) Neuman.

He graduated from Mayo High School in 1970. On May 7th, 1983 he married Debra M. Fenske at Oak Hills Wesleyan Church in Rochester. The couple built their dream home on an acreage where they raised two sons. Andy worked as an Instructor Pilot for family owned Neuman Air Charter and was a truck driver for Paulson Rock Products and Stussy Construction. He also volunteered as a board member at the Southern Minnesota Trap Club.

Andy enjoyed fly fishing for trout, hunting, shooting sports, feeding critters in his back yard, watching Western movies, and sipping on a frosty Old Milwaukee Light. He defeated cancer in 2017 resulting in the loss of his right eye, but it never broke his spirit. He had a great sense of humor and could always be counted on for a good story. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, Claire, Josie, and Brooke, as well as his faithful canine companion, Cabela.

He is survived by two sons, Tom Neuman (Cindy Rekemeyer) of Tucson, AZ, and Tim (Jenny) Neuman of Brewster, MN.  In addition, he is survived by his sister, Linda (Jim) Erickson of Prescott, WI; brothers, Mike (Nancy) Neuman and Jeff Neuman of Rochester, MN; and three granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother-in-law, Jim Erickson, and niece, Jillian Wetzel.

The memorial service for Andrew J. “Newt” Neuman will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 7, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. The visitation will be starting at 1:00 p.m. on August 7, 2021 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trout Unlimited or Minnesota Deer Hunters Association of Rochester, MN.
