Alice Posthumus

Alice Posthumus, 87, of Rochester passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, January 31, 2014, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the River Park Chapel, Macken Funeral Home. A family prayer service will follow visitation at 7:00 PM.

Alice was born on October 7, 1926 in Walnut Grove, MN to Ernest and Cleo Schultz. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1944. She married Gerald Posthumus, Sr. on April 10, 1948 in Minneapolis at the historic Wesley United Methodist Church. The couple moved to Rochester in 1957.

Alice is survived by her husband Gerald Posthumus, Sr. of Rochester; 3 sons – Gerald Posthumus, Jr. (Evelyn) of Rochester, Bruce Posthumus of Rosemount, MN and Ted Posthumus of Morristown, MN; 3 grandchildren – Gerald Posthumus, III of Rochester, Tarah Posthumus of Hudson, WI and Sheryl Posthumus of Minneapolis, MN; 2 great-grandchildren – Ethan and Owen Posthumus of Rochester. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Alice was a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her family and was an avid gardener. After her husband’s retirement in 1983 they enjoyed traveling in their motorhome and touring in their antique cars to many events and gatherings. They were members of the Model A Ford Club of America and the Antique Automobile Club of America.

Memorials can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Interment will be at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery in Silver Creek, MN.
