Dorothy Gasner

Dorothy Marie (Schwob) Gasner was born on Nov. 7, 1937, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Harlan and Mary Ellen Schwob. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1955 and St. Ambrose College Division of Nursing in 1958.

Dorothy was a Registered Nurse for over 37 years, including 22 years as a Nurse Manager, Orthopedics with Methodist Hospital, Rochester.

Dorothy married David Noonan in 1960, but later divorced. In 1979, she married the love of her life, Robert Andrew Gasner, who preceded her in death on May 5, 2019.

Survivors include her siblings, Sally (Edward) of Homewood, Ill., John (Aline) of Durango, Colo., and James (Karina) of West Roxbury, Mass.; two daughters, Ann White (Al) of Davenport, Iowa, and Julia Noonan (Ted) of Rockville, Md.; seven sons, James (Marty) of Arlington, Texas, Kenneth (Kristan) Madison, Wis., Thomas (Mindy) Austin, Texas, Daniel (Kris) of Eden Prairie, Kurt (Marlene) of Orlando, Fla., Todd (Bess) of Zumbro Falls, and Sean of Prior Lake; 22 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren, Ignatius and Olenna. Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter, Jean.

She was loved, and isn’t that the greatest tribute of all.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Dorothy Marie Gasner (Schwob) will be held 11 a.m. Nov. 2 at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, with Rev. Russell Scepaniak officiating. Family visitation will be one hour prior to the mass at the church. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
