Margaret Ellen “Marge” Connelly

Margaret Ellen “Marge” Connelly passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2010, at the age of 70, at her residence following a one-year battle with cancer. Margaret Remick was born on October 27, 1939 in Bemidji, MN to Herbert and Angela Remick. Her family moved to LaSalle, IL, where she attended grade school and high school.  In 1957, after graduation, she moved to Rochester to attend the St. Mary’s School of Nursing. She graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1960. On September 18, 1965, she married Gerald “Jerry” Connelly at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. After working as an R.N. for St. Mary’s Hospital for over 20 years, she was hired by the Rochester School District as an instructor in the Secondary Health Occupation Program at Mayo, John Marshall, and Century High Schools.

Margaret was an accomplished gardener, and especially loved her roses and her wind-chimes. She also was an avid reader, MN Twins fan, and fantastic cook.  Margaret was active in her faith community at Resurrection Catholic Parish, and was a member of the Perpetual Adoration Group. She is survived by her husband Jerry of 44 years, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, April 12, 2010, at 10:30AM at Resurrection Catholic Church with Father Thomas Loomis and father Donald Connelly officiating.
