Michael Logan, 60, of Byron, died of natural causes at his residence on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014.

Michael was born July 2, 1954, in Owatonna, to Kenneth and Shirley (Popes) Logan. He grew up in Rochester. He married Deborah Roland on Aug. 25, 1979, at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester, and they made their home in Byron. He worked for Barlow’s Food Store, the local Carpenter’s Union #1382, Beaver Log Homes, and for the last 30 years was the proud owner and operator of Logan’s Tree Service and Recycling.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter, Kirsten (John) Coverstone of Shoreview, and their children, Colton, Audrey, Ian and Leo; son, Ethan (Dawn) McDaniel of Faribault, and their children, Logan and Lucas; son, Justin (Sarah) Logan of Bena, Minn.; daughter, Ashley (Esten) Martin of Rochester, and their children, Kylie and Grace; and one brother, Scott Logan of Maui, Hawaii; and nieces and nephews. Michael was also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Sharon and Kenneth Roland.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Shirley, and brothers, Rick and Randy.

Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman. His second home was on Lake Winnibigoshish. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, cooking, gardening, canning and being outdoors.

Condolences

The family of Michael T. Logan has received the following condolences.

We were so saddened by Mike's passing.  He has been our 'woods expert' for many years.  Whenever we needed trees removed, trimmed, or storm damage cleanup, he took great care of our yard.  We loved having him give us advice on what should be done in our wooded area.  Plus, we always felt his pricing for us was fair.  Please know that your loss will be shared by his many customers.  We will miss 'Logey'.

Deb and Family,

We were shocked and saddened to hear about Mike's passing. It's hard to believe something like that when you hear it. He was a great guy that we admired and enjoyed knowing. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. I want to come to his service but will be unable to as I am leaving for Wyoming Friday morning. I want you to know we are thinking of you during this difficult time and want you to remember all of the good times you had together. Memories last forever.Take care.

Dear Deb,  I am so sorry for your loss.  Mike was such a wonderful friend, husband, father, grandfather, businessman and I know how difficult it will be for you in the next few months.  Lean on your beautiful children and loving friends - you are blessed to have had a husband who fostered such deep friendships with people - that is what will get you through this time.  I am honored to have known him, and am praying for you and your whole family.  Love & prayers,  XOXO

Whenever I meet someone who is honest or generous or kind (or all three) I am reminded of Mike Logan. Mike was never anything other than he said he was, listened to what you meant no matter what you said, and always offered more than his fair share. I offer my condolences to his family. Their loss is felt by many in Rochester.

My sympathy goes out to Mike's family. Mike removed multiple trees for me over the years. He was a great guy.

My sincerest condolences.  I have only know Mike for about 6 months but can say with certainty that he was a genuinely kind person and I am very sorry for your loss.
