Kay Louise Geppert

Kay Louise Geppert, 53, of Rochester, passed away Sunday, November 23, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

She was born April 7, 1961, in Rochester, to Jerome and Arlene (Patchin) Rhodes. She married Gary Geppert on January 30, 1988, at Rochester Assembly of God. Kay met Gary at a church small group where they both served as leaders. They farmed in the Mount Pleasant Township area until they moved to Rochester in 2001.

Kay graduated from Owatonna High School in 1979 and graduated from Mankato Technical College with a Computer Programming degree. She was previously employed at Waters Instruments, Olmsted County, Ciber, and CTG. Kay was a member of Rochester Assembly of God. She loved being an M-Pact Girls leader for first and second grade girls. She designed and made costumes for numerous church theater productions; she altered and sewed clothes for those in need. She was also on many committees serving the church.

Kay is survived by her loving children, Sarah and Ryan of Rochester; mother Arlene Rhodes of Owatonna; sisters Mary (Brian) Dallmann of Owatonna and Susan (Thomas) Knight of Burns, Wyoming; brother-in-law Steve (Rebecca) Geppert of St. Paul; sister-in-law Joni Geppert of White Bear Lake; mother-in-law Elizabeth Geppert of Lake City; six nephews and nieces; and many other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary Geppert (1956 – 2007), her father, Jerome Rhodes (2013), father-in-law Wayne Geppert (2014), and her grandparents.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 26, at Rochester Assembly of God with Rev. Jim Filbeck officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood East Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 25, at the Rochester Assembly of God Church, and one hour prior to the service.

Memorials are preferred to the family.

Macken Funeral Home will handle the arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.

Kay was a beautiful and giving soul. I appreciated working with her as she was inciteful and knowledgeable.   She was taken too soon and will be missed.

Mary,

My deepest sympathies, My prayers are with you and Kay's family.

Mary Penkava

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am praying for all your family.

Ryan & Sarah,

You both do not know me, but I'm a colleague of your mom from the Netherlands. When I was in Rochester a few times, I passed by her desk, to chat. She was always so help full and so friendly. What a great loss for all, but especially for you both. My sincere condolences for your loss and all the strength and best in these difficult times.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you,

The Bergquist's

I don't know you and your mom that well, but I still remember working with her Wednesday nights with the 2nd graders. I enjoyed helping her and learned a lot from her. Praying for you and your family...

Sarah and family,

May the Lord continue to strengthen you through these waves of grief and remind you hour by hour of His loving presence. We are praying for you all.

Arwen & Eden

Sarah & Ryan, we are so sorry about the loss of your mom.  We have no idea what you must be going through but we are here for you - whatever you need.  We will continue to pray for you and the rest of your family during this difficult time.  The comfort we have is knowing that she's up in heaven with your dad smiling down on you both.  - All Our Love, Greg, Diane, Garron & Keenan

Ryan and Sarah, I am so sorry for your loss, and know that you and your family are definitely in my prayers.  Knowing a loved one has gone on to heaven doesn't make those left in the shadowlands miss that person any less, but with that knowledge comes the joy that she is with Christ and the hope that you will see her again soon.  I wish I could hug you in person, but a cyber hug will have to do for now.
