Margaret Julia Johnson

The Funeral Service for Margaret Julia Johnson will held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at 10:30AM in The River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with Pastors David Bergh and Chris Swenson officiating.  A visitation for Margaret will be held one hour in advance to the funeral service in the River Park Chapel. Following services, her body will be interred in the Greenfield Cemetery in Harmony, MN.

Margaret Julia Johnson passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Samaritan Bethany Home on 8th in Rochester. She was born on September 14, 1923 in Harmony, MN to Hellick and Ronnaug Johnson. Margaret grew up in Harmony, and attended Harmony High School.  Following High School, she did clerical work for various companies such as Trane Air Conditioning, Control Data and the Internal Revenue Service. Throughout her working life she lived Nevada, LaCrosse, WI, Minneapolis-St. Paul, and Rochester. She ultimately retired from the Sears Roebuck Company in Rochester.  Margaret was crippled at the age two with Polio, but persevered through her life dealing with the side-effects in a positive way. She was a religious person who had a strong Christian faith.  She deeply enjoyed the friends that she made throughout her life. She absolutely loved her vehicle, and would take frequent trips throughout Minnesota.  Margaret kept her vehicles in good condition, and was known as a “speedy lady with a lead foot”.

Margaret is survived by her siblings Gladys Perowski of Reno, Nevada, Ruth Veglahn of Chatfield, Harold N. (Betty) Johnson of Chatfield, and several very loved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law: Norval (Jean) Johnson and her half sister and half brother-in-law: Borghild (Emer) Rott of California.

Macken Funeral Home of Rochester will be handing the services, and online condolences may be given for Margaret at www.mackenfuneralhome.com

Condolences

The family of Margaret Julia Johnson has received the following condolences.

So sorry that I will be unable to be there with you today,  however, there was no back up for my role today at work so I am unable to get off.  My thoughts will be with you.  I remember fondly my year of living with Margaret (1977, early 1978) and getting to know her family.  Also remember some good times at Norval and Jean's home on the farm, pig roasts with all of you and Margaret.  LIfe brings changes for all of us, and Margaret accepted those changes in her life, beginning at age 2.  While this may have handicapped her naturally, it didn't defeat her spirit.  May you all enjoy good memories of Margaret and her life.  Again, though I cannot be with you physically, I will be thinking of you today as you lay Margaret's body to rest.  Donna
