Rose, 67, died on January 12, 2014 at Olmsted Medical Center Hospital.
Rose was born May 11, 1946 in Rochester and as a child moved to Austin where she graduated from Pacelli High School in 1964. Following high school she moved back to Rochester and worked for Snyder Drug Store. She later moved to Faribault for schooling in caring for the handicap. Upon graduating she worked for the Rochester State Hospital until it closed. She then worked for Bear Creek Services and later Possibilities where she was employed at the time of her death.
Rose loved her job especially her participation with the “SPRED” program, a religious program for those with disabilities. She enjoyed traveling and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by a son, John Paul Cummings of Rochester and her mother Elizabeth “Betty” Cummings also of Rochester. Her father Duane Cummings preceded her in death.
Visitation will be one hour in advance of the Mass 10:00am to 11:00am on Wednesday at the church.

Condolences
The family of Rose Ann Cummings has received the following condolences.
I worked with Rose from 2007-2009. She
made sure I packed the silverware correctly and checked on me at AFM
when I was cleaning there. She was such a sweetie. I enjoyed playing
games in her room when there was no work. She will be missed.
We are so sorry for your loss. Rose has been our son Steven's supervisor at PossAbilities for many years. They had a very special relationship and she knew him very well. We hope she knew just how much we treasured her support, guidance and friendship. Steven enjoyed the community outings they shared especially the weekly trips to Resurrection church to stuff bulletins. We will truly miss her, but will forever remember her fondly, she was a very special friend. God bless and keep you.
My sincerest empathy for your loss of Rose. But, we must celebrate her life while here on earth. I knew Rose only through shared activities at SPRED. I fondly recall her consistent nurturing support of the clients - which motivated us other "facilitators" (teachers) to be that way too.
Now Rose has moved on up to heaven.
I'm sorry I will not be able to share this tragic event with you- Betty and John. I plann to make a donation to the special olympics in memory of Rose. I've known Rose since the days of the former State Hospital Days. She was always dedicated to the mentally and physically challanged people. She always found joy even in the stressful times at work and find humor them. I don't think she ever work any where else except with them.
She enjoyed her family and friends. She was wonderful and dedicated to her mom, Betty, and John. She would tell of helping her mom with this or of John and his dreams. ( She was very proud of you John.) She was proud when John started working in one of the houses while going to school and the bowling success. We would have conversations about some of the cousins and all the baby afghans she would have started to give to new babies.
She will be very missed. -My deepest sympathies to Betty and John.
Rose always helped my husband up to communion at church she will be missed by everyone I feel blessed to have known her.
Rose had a gift that she shared everyday with a community that very few truly understand. Rose more than understood the people she served. She had a gift to relate to people often times when no one else could. Rose's life lessons will live on everyday with all who knew her. She taught so many that hard work wasn't just about earning a pay check. Hard work earned you pride.
Thoughts and Prayers ,

Rose was a very kind person who was always willing to help anyone in need. She always kept us on our toes at work. Like rose would say.. its about time you got here! She will be greatly missed and will be thought of often! We will miss her everyday!
John Paul and Betty,
My heart goes out to both of you. Rose was such a good and compassionate person to everyone she met.
Many years after I had done day care for John Paul, Rose would still laugh about our adventure to the caves in Spring Valley, but she was always willing to volunteer for another adventure!
She loved her work at PossAbilities and her volunteering at SPRED, but more importantly the people she supported knew they were loved by her.
John Paul, she was so proud of you and the nice young man you have become. She would beam with pride when she would talk about your bowling expertise and how important it was for you to carry on your passion to help individuals with disabilities enjoy the sport. My thoughts and prayers are with both of you at this time.
I first met Rose over 30 years ago when she was working at Bear Creek Services. Several years later she came to work with us at PossAbilities. She connected with so many of the individuals with disabilities we supported and made a huge difference in their lives. Because of Rose there were individuals who were able to be employed on their own, made connections with other people in Rochester, learned to communicate with other people and, most importantly, had many happy days. She was truly dedicated to individuals with disabilities, both in her work and personal life.
She was extremely proud of John and we talked about him often. The fact that his career involved helping people brought a sparkle to her eye. She was one of a kind and will truly be missed by many people. Much love to John, Betty and all of her friends and family.
Rose was an amazing woman who spent her life supporting and empowering people with disabilities, she was an inspiration to many and her caring heart touched the lives of more people than can ever be counted. I will miss her dearly and remember her fondly.
I have known Rose for close to if not over 20 years. I always enjoyed our visits and will miss her. she was dedicated to her family and her work. May the Lord comfort John and Betty at this time of loss.
