Terrance D. Shuster
Terrance Dale Shuster ended his earthly journey finding peace and eternal rest with God on January 10, 2014 in Rochester, MN.
The celebration of life for Terry Shuster will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel at 11:30 AM. Visitation will held from 10:00 AM until the start of the service.
Terry was born in Chisholm, Minnesota on December 25, 1934 to Lillian (Haro) and Joseph Shuster. He graduated from the University of MN Duluth with a degree in business administration. He married his childhood sweetheart, Betty Detragiache, in 1956 and they lived in Rochester for most of their married life.
Terry had a distinguished career as a top producer in health and life insurance sales in southeast Minnesota and later worked for the Johnson Company. He then entered the cable television industry, overseeing systems in Rochester, Brainerd and the Minneapolis suburbs. He was instrumental in the development of the Minnesota cable television industry, where he served on the executive board of the Minnesota Cable Telecommunications Association, and in various leadership roles serving many local community organizations.
Terry was an avid sportsman, and excelled at basketball, softball, tennis and golf. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and being in the woods of northern Minnesota. He was an active member of both the Rochester and Brainerd Exchange Clubs.
Some of his fondest memories were enjoyed with family and loved ones while living in the Brainerd Gull Lake area.
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Betty; children Mark and Lynne (Lloyd Bartholomew Jr) of Rochester, MN, and Scott in Florida; sister Judy (David) Stahl of Spring Lake Park, MN; grandchildren, Edward and Christopher Cline, and Ashley and Alex Shuster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lillian and Joseph Shuster.

The family of Terrance D. Shuster has received the following condolences.
Sorry Betty, we just heard of Terry's passing. You two were the finest neighbors we have ever had. I still remember the fine smell of side pork when Terry was cooking it on the grill. If you are ever in the Gull Lake area or Mankato area, we would love to see you.

remembering the special times helping his mother Lillian.
Sorrow can never conquer nor grief turn to despair
when there are others who care may you find peace.
Obviously, Terry was as pleasant and successful as an adult as he was as a youngster. His influence on the family and society shall bear his mark forever. So many positive memories will ease your immediate sorrow.
This world is not conclusion. A sequel lies beyond; as invisible as music, yet positive as sound.
God Bless.
Betty,
I read about Terry's passing in the Brainerd paper. I am so sorry for your loss.
I have such fond memories of you & Terry when Tim & I would go to the cable conferences in the cities with the two of you. And then there were the Christmas parties. Such fun.
Hope you are doing okay. Will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I'm sending you a big hug.
Lynne, I was so sorry to read of your dad's death. Age or circumstance does not make the death of a parent any easier. I am thinking about you and your family.
Betty and Lynne, we have you in our thoughts and prayers. It was wonderful knowing Terry, if even for such a short time.
Dear Betty & Family,
We just want you to know how much we have thought about you, and are thinking of you as you go through the days ahead. I hope it helps to know that so many people cared about Terry, and care about you.
Love, Ken & Jane
It was wonderful caring for such a nice man, he will always hold a place in my heart, as well as you Betty. It was so nice meeting you and to have such many great conversations with you. I will miss both of you very much. If there's anything at all that you need just let me know!
Dear Betty and Family,
So sorry to hear about Terry's passing. We just finished the final goodbye to Patricia Oberstar and we see that the two cousins were only one year apart. There sure were a lot of fond memories in Chisholm growing up and sharing quality time with Terry's Mom and Dad. Our deepest condolences, and our prayers are with each of the rest of the family.
Love ,
Tom & Barb Grahek
What a joy to be even a little part of Terry's (and family's) life! The sparkle in his eye when he smiled gave us all hope! Betty, you are an inspiration and a testament to what love is. My prayers are with you all. Peace, Pastor Jean
I cherish the memories of our childhood together. Our families were close and Terry was like a brother. It was sad to see him go through the last few years. I was fortunate to be able to see Terry and Betty during the time Lois was in Samaritan. "Happy Hour" on Fridays was a special time for us. I'm praying that the Shuster family will call upon memories of good times in the past to carry them through this ordeal. May he Rest in Peace knowing that so many cared.
Sending my deepest sympathy to the Shuster family. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. Terry had a wonderful family (and support system) and he will be missed by all.
So sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Wishing many fond memories to soften the loss.
Carol
Your family is in my thoughts and Prayers!!
It was an honor to be apart of Terry's life. He will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you! Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you! Samaritan will not be the same without him. May he rest in peace.
I work for R and S transport and had the privledge of giving this sweet couple rides. I feel in love with them both. So sweet on each other even after all these years. Betty is an amazing lady and in our short rides she taught me what caring for the love of your life is all about. I will miss seeing Terry and his big smile each time he knew he was going home for a visit. Many prayers being sent your way.
I can hardly believe he's really gone. It's been a privilege and honor to have known Terry and all the family. You will be missed.
Thinking of the family during this difficult time. Terry was my mother's neighbor at Samaritan Bethany. I watched an amazing wife care for the love of her life. Please accept our condolences.
