The funeral for Sharon Louise Brasher will be at 11:00am on Saturday April 20, 2013 at Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel with Rev. Preston Paul officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. The visitation will be held Friday April 19, 2013 from 5:00pm – 8:00pm and Saturday one hour prior to the funeral at Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel.
Mrs. Brasher, 66, of Chatfield, MN died Monday April 15, 2013 at St. Marys Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
Sharon was born on October 17, 1946 in Rochester, MN to Marvin and Katherine Sample. She graduated from Chatfield High School in 1964. On May 24, 1970 she married Alvin M. Brasher in Nashville, TN. The couple lived a short time in Russellville, KY before returning to Chatfield where they resided until present.
Sharon worked at the Rochester State Hospital and Woodside Nursing Home as a LPN. She then went to Rochester Community College where she earned her Registered Nursing Degree at the age of 38. She then worked at Samaritan Bethany Heights as a RN for 14 years until becoming disabled. She was an excellent nurse and mentor to all who knew her; not only in her nursing career, but in her personal life. She has always showed love, caring and compassion to all.
Survivors include her daughter Lisa (Tom) Shonka of Chatfield; grandson Christopher of Chatfield; sister Kathleen McAllister and family of Byron, sister Barbara Olson and family of Rochester and brother Ronald Sample and family of Chatfield. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Alvin.
Sharon loved spending time with her family, cooking and baking for the holidays, and gambling at the casino. Even though these activities became difficult, she always had a smile, joke or even a laugh to brighten the day of others. She was truly loved and will be dearly missed by her family.

I am so sorry to hear about Sharon. She was such a GREAT RN. She had a laugh that made anyone laugh and her sense of humor was so great. I also learned so much from your mom. I also worked with her at Samaritan Bethany Heights. She was a great lady and will be missed.
Sorry for your loss. I knew Sharon's mom best of all and worked with Kathy at OCH when she was a new aide. New Sharon and think I may have had Lisa as a student in the PN program...I did get to know Sharon some but my thoughts now gor to her family..ma you gain strength from each other to help you through the days ahead.

So sorry to hear about Sharons death, her and I were class mates and we did some times get into trouble together... Have not seen Sharon in years....she always had a smile on her face..God be with you at this very hard time

I just wanted to tell you that I'm sorry to hear of the death of your mom. I worked with her up at the heights for many years...I learned alot from your mom and considered her a friend. she talked of you often with alot of love and joy when she did. She was a great ,kind lady and I will miss her, even though I haven't seen her in awhile -I thought of her often...May God be with you during this difficult time and God bless you...
