Shari Lynn Oldenburg
Shari Lynn (Dahl) Oldenburg, 49 years of age, of Rochester passed away peacefully at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by family and friends following a courageous battle with a rare form of cancer on Thursday, July 12, 2012.
Shari Lynn Dahl was born on September 15, 1962 in Oklahoma City, OK to Orvis and Phyllis (Wobschall) Dahl. Soon thereafter, she moved with her family to Rochester, where she resided. A graduate of Mayo High School, Shari later received a degree in accounting from Winona State University. Shari went on to work for more than 30 years at Mayo Clinic Rochester, a job that she thoroughly enjoyed. She touched countless lives during her career and made many wonderful friendships.
Shari’s love for teddy bears earned her the heartfelt nickname “Share-Bear” and her smile would light up any room. Always ready for good music, Shari also found joy in times spent with family and friends. She treasured holidays, birthdays, and all the small moments in-between.
Above everything, Shari was a devoted mother to her two beautiful children, Danae and Michael Oldenburg. Her love for them gave her the inspiring courage with which she met every day.
Shari is survived by her parents Orvis and Phyllis Dahl of Rochester, siblings Michelle (David) Blanchard of Rochester, Stacy (Tim) Danks of St. Clair, MN, Joseph Dahl (Jolene) of Rochester, five nieces, four nephews, one great niece, many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Shari is preceded in death by her son, Colton Oldenburg, two uncles, and her paternal and maternal grandparents.
A memorial service for Shari is planned for 2:00PM on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Rev. James Heining Officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00pm to 7:00pm (with a time of sharing at 6:00pm) on Monday, July 16, 2012 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church.
In support of Shari’s children, memorials are preferred written to the estate of Shari Oldenburg.
Macken Funeral Home is handling the arrangements, and online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com
Condolences
The family of Shari Lynn Oldenburg has received the following condolences.
I am so sorry to hear of Shari's death. I worked with her closely for a number of years in Finance at Mayo, and she was a very competent colleague and a dear co-worker. Orv and family, you are in my thoughts and prayers in this time of loss.
Orv, Phyillis, and family. My deepest sympathy for you and your family. After reading about Shari I had to go look up a picture I have of my mom (Janice Cords) and one of her sunday school classes. If I remembered the picture correctly it was of Shari standing next to my mom. I was correct. All the memories one has of those days are precious. Remember them always they can not be taken away. Again your family and Shari's are in my thoughts and prayers. Kay Cords Wytaske
So sorry to see the passing of Shari. Shari was in my confirmation class at Redeemer and graduated with her at Mayo. She always came to the class reunions and had the biggest smile ever. She sure will be missed. Sending prayers to all of Shari's family.
I remember Shari from grade school. My prayers and thoughts go to her and her family.
Shari was a shining light in a sea of grey. Kind and caring, a lovely soul. I always looked forward to when I'd see her next. My thoughts and prayers to her family.
Shari's family -

Orv, Phyllis and family, Ariel, Sierra and I send our heart felt sympathies to you and your family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. May gods grace comfort you in this time of sadness. All our love, Veronica, Sierra and Ariel.
I was so saddened to hear of Shari's passing. We knew her to have a contagious smile and such a kind compassionate heart. We could see the strength in her family who continued to bring Danae and Michael to SACC every morning. Shari was a fun mom!
Ben Franklin SACC staff have you in our thoughts.
My heart goes out to all of Shari's family. You were lucky to have this charming lady for your mother/sister/daughter/neice/aunt, and the rest of us were lucky to know her. I worked with her for a time, and she was wonderful to work with--funny, competent, charming, and caring. After retiring I hadn't seen her until my granddaughter (Abby LeQuia) became Danae's good friend when they started middle school. At that time it was a sorrow to learn that Shari had been stricken with cancer, and we now mourn her passing along with you.
To Danae, I pass along special condolences from my brother Joe (Berkman) and Renata (Fitzpatrick). They hope to see you again on a camping trip with us.
May time ease the pain of your loss, and may the happy memories be treasured forever.
Nancy
I had always admired Shari because she was a beautiful, fun and an outgoing person. I never saw her upset. It was like she was high on life all the time. I remember going out with friends and she happened to be there as well and we would have the best time. Shari will be truly missed. Now we ask ourselves why and why now, but he has a plan is all I can say. Thinking of your family at this sad and trying time.
Orv and family; My deepest sympathy is with you all. From that day several months ago I saw Shari and you in chemo I have said a prayer daily for her. May Gods spirit comfort you in the days to come! Tom Roberts
