The funeral service for Loretta M. Blazing will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday June 6, 2012, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at River Park Chapel and one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Mrs. Blazing of Rochester, died Friday June 1, 2012 of natural causes at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester.
Loretta was born December 1, 1921 in Albin Township in Brown County, Minnesota to John and Mary (Schloegl) Sellner. She was raised in Sleepy Eye and moved to Rochester in the early 50’s. She married Robert Gerald Blazing November 7, 1953 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. Mr. Blazing died Saturday, August 13, 2000. Loretta was employed at Marian Hall at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester and retired after 25 years.
She is survived by: four sons, Kenneth (Trista), Dennis (Vicki), Dale Blazing of Rochester, MN.,David (Paula) of Racine, MN.; one daughter Denise (Daniel) Young of Eyota, MN.; six grandchildren, Erik (Anya), Michael (Maggie) Blazing, David and Douglas Young, and Carly and Corin Blazing; three great grandchildren, Addisyn Young, Hendrix Young, and Remy Blazing. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters.
Loretta and Robert were charter members of Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester. She was also a member of the Country Crafts organization and loved knitting, crocheting and gardening.
