The Funeral Service for Bernie Ellsworth Krueger will be at 2:00PM Thursday, May 24, 2012 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with a visitation one half hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Krueger, 75 of Rochester, died Sunday, May 20, 2012 at home after a lengthy illness.
He was born on July 18, 1936 in Eyota, MN to Ellsworth and Fran (Bierman) Krueger. Bernie attended school in Rochester. After graduation in 1954, he enlisted in the Navy. In 1954, he married Joan Dineen. They later divorced.
Upon completion of his service in the Navy, he earned his commercial pilot’s license and flew for United Airlines. He then completed his degree in aeronautical engineering and worked for North American Aviation in Downey, CA and later for Hughes Aircraft in Long Beach, CA. Upon retirement, he owned and operated a campground in northern California. His passion was flying.
Survivors include; his mother, Fran Krueger of Rochester, a daughter, Vicki (Harold) Walker of Culpepper, VA; a son, Randy Krueger or Buena Park, CA; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Robert (Kristen) Krueger of Grass Valley, CA and Rick Krueger of Rochester; one sister, Judith (Gary) Anderson of Rochester.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ellsworth.

Eventhough I didn't know Bernie real personaly, I do remember how handsome he was and Ithink I last saw him at Judy's wedding, when he came in uniform, and I had not seen him for thirteen years prior to that. At that time we danced and had a good time as did all. I wish I had known him better, but he will always hold a special place in my heart, as do all of my relatives.
Bernie was a classmate of ours at RHS..we graduated with Bernie..I don't recall if he came to our class reunions but I do remember him..condolences to all his family..he was always a nice person.
