David Allan Wolf

A visitation for David Allan Wolf, of Rochester, Minnesota will be held in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Wednesday, December 14, 2011.

Mr. Wolf, 68, died Sunday at his home in Rochester in the company of family.

He was born on August 17, 1943 in Spokane, Washington to Charles and Myrtle Wolf.  On August 21, 1965 he was married to Janice C. Schultz, of Boise, Idaho.  He served in the Engineering Battalion of the US Army Reserves from 1962 through 1968.   He played high school football at Borah High and played college football at Idaho State University and then Boise State University, where he graduated with a baccalaureate degree in Social Work.

During college, David spent summers fighting wildfires in the northwest.  Following his graduation he began a career as an electrical lineman, a job which eventually led him to a long tenure as a union Journeyman Lineman with Local 1547 and Chugach Electric Utility in Anchorage, Alaska.

David was an avid outdoorsman and loved to share time fishing, hunting, and camping with his family.  His enthusiasm for the outdoors brought his young family to Anchorage, Alaska where they lived from 1979 through 1995.  Following David’s retirement, he and Janice relocated to southern Missouri where they raised cattle and a large vegetable garden on a rural acreage.  Following health complications, David and Janice moved to Rochester to be near family and modern health care.

Mr. Wolf is survived by his wife, Janice Wolf of Rochester; three children, Benjamin (Christine) Wolf of Rochester, Shelley Wolf and fiancé Dustin King of Rochester, and Justin (Megan) Wolf of St. Louis, Missouri; three grandchildren, Joshua, Eli, and Marnie; and his brothers Dennis (LaNell) of Miles City, Montana and Eldred (Haruko) of Spokane, Washington.
