Mary L. Robsahm

Mary Louise Robsahm January 15, 1927 – September 26, 2011

In the home she cherished, Mary joined her beloved husband Milton in God’s great garden on September 26, 2011.  Mary was held in the loving embrace of her daughter Meg Robsahm and Son in Law Tony Vannelli (Monroe, WA).  A celebration of her life will be held at Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel on Monday 17 October at 4 pm; reception to follow immediately thereafter.

Mary was born in Redfield, South Dakota on January 15, 1927 to Vivian and Arthur Scheleher. She is preceded in death by husband Milton and daughter Robyn Stephanie; Audrey and Richard Wilson (sister & husband); brother Paul Arthur Scheleher, and her parents.

After receiving her college degree, she took great delight in teaching a one room school house. She married Milton Robsahm at her family home on June 29, 1946. Milt, Mary and family lived in South Dakota and Wisconsin, but made Rochester their home for over 45 years.

Mary greatly enjoyed people from all walks of life. She was proud to be a JCP associate for 25 years in the customer service department.  Once retired, she volunteered her time to the “Sallie”, Salvation Army in Rochester.

Regardless of where you met Mary, she welcomed you into her life and wished the best for you. She cherished children, and felt blessed by their laughter and twinkling eyes. Loved by many, she always offered her smile, kind words, hugs, and sometimes cookies or a kiss.

Throughout her life, Mary loved spending time with her family. Most recently she cherished time with daughter Meg & son in law Tony Vannelli; Grandsons & wives, Jon & Elizabeth Giese (Stewartville) and William & Katrina Giese (Peterson); family nieces Theodora & Dr. Robert DePompolo of Plainview; Kathy & Keith Halphide of Rochester; and family friends.

She is also survived by Sandra Harvath of Redfield, Linda & Leo Stoltz of Manassas, VA; and sister in law, Onilee & Walter Brachvogel of Kansas; brother in law, Leon & Zona Robsahm of Sioux Falls, SD.

Mary loved her home, garden and neighbors. Her faith & deep commitment to Jesus is an example to us all. She truly knew how to serve her Lord and did so without hesitation or expectation from others. Her gentle, compassionate and loving spirit will be deeply and profoundly missed.

Donations in her name will be made to the Salvation Army.
