She then attended Yankton college (SD) where she was Miss Pioneer (homecoming queen) and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in English in 1948. She married Harry H. Savage in 1949 and had three children. After teaching in various locations and acquiring her Masters Degree in English/Reading from the University of Northern Iowa in 1972, she accepted a teaching position in Rochester, MN. The angels, whispering to one another,
Can find, among their burning terms of love,
None so devotional as that of “Mother””

Memorial services will be held Friday, Sept. 9, at 11 a.m. at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel in Rochester with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating, preceded by a one hour visitation from 10-11 a.m. Interment will be at the Oakwood Cemetery, followed by a luncheon.
Condolences
The family of Marlys Lorraine Savage has received the following condolences.
Cheryl & Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. My prayers are with you.
Cheryl, I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Lara told me that she had passed away. When I heard this I couldn't believe it. My heart sank and we both started to cry. Lara told me that you always made calls to your mother....like she calls me.
I am sorry to her about your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you.
My deepest sympathy,
Linda Lopez
I was shocked and saddened when reading that your mom had passed. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. If I can do anything to help please let me know. I will treasure the childhood memories I have of your mom. I often ask myself "what would MR. & Mrs. Savage do" when dealing with my own children. May God bless her and keep her close.
