Ruth June Griffin

Ruth June Griffin, 83, was born June 4, 1928 in Merrill WI, to John and Selma (Natzke) Scheu and died at her home on Thursday, Aug 11, 2011 from pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 pm on Sunday,  Aug. 21, 2011 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester, MN, with Pastor Karen Pahl officiating.  Friends and family can visit an hour before service. Interment will be a private ceremony at St. Bridget’s Cemetery.

Ruth worked at Mayo Clinic after graduating from Valparaiso University and Kahler School of Nursing in 1952 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Nursing.  She married Lawrence Paul Griffin, Nov 21 1952 at Saint Bridget’s Catholic Church in Simpson, MN.  Lawrence preceded her in death in 1997 after forty five years of marriage.

Ruth  was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester, Chatter Club and Married Nurses Club.  She loved to travel, garden, read, sew,  knit, bake and try out new recipes from her countless cookbooks.   She enjoyed learning new things and taking bus trips offered by Community Ed and Eastwood’s New Horizon Club.

Ruth is survived by her brother Leonard (Myrtle) Scheu of Merrill WI, her children  Donald (Maria) Griffin, Luling LA, Laurie Miller, Faribault, MN,  Sarah (Terry) Griffith, Claremont MN, Angie (Jerry) Richardson, Salt Lake City UT,  Tina Griffin, Rochester MN and  Douglas (Dawn) Griffin, Kasson MN;  grandchildren Joseph (Pia) Griffin, Mark (Olga) Griffin, Joe (Angie) Decker, John Decker, Bailey, Brianna, and MaKayla Griffin;  and great grandchildren Alessandra and Daniella Griffin.

Ruth is also survived by her college roommate and lifelong friend Pat Lynaugh.
