Eileen T. Bingham

Eileen T. Bingham, age 82, died peacefully on July 23rd, 2011 at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield surrounded by her loving family.

Eileen was born on September 3, 1928 to Carl and Cora Jensen. She spent her childhood in Byron, MN where her parents operated a Hardware store.

She met and married Perry Bingham in 1945.  The couple made their home in SE Rochester.  Eileen was a stay-at-home mother to their four children.  Perry worked at Rochester Ready Mix until his death in 1976.

Eileen eventually worked as a church secretary for Homestead United Methodist Church.

She moved to Chatfield, MN in 1990 to be closer to her daughters.  After retirement, Eileen remained busy with numerous hobbies.  She enjoyed sketching, painting, quilting and croqueting.  Her extended family has been blessed with innumerable handmade items to treasure in their homes.

In recent years she would open ‘Grandma’s Boutique’ prior to Christmas.  Family members had the opportunity to “shop” her handmade crafts to select personal items to treasure.

Amongst her 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren, Eileen was fondly referred to as Grandma, Nanny B or Grandma Bingo.  She loved to hear the children sing her favorite song “You are my Sunshine”.

Eileen loved various types of music.  Even in the hours preceded her death she was still tapping along with the musical beat and singing.

Eileen is survived by her daughter, Kathy (Roy) Lange of Chatfield; son, Dennis (Linda) Bingham of Rochester and daughter, Wendy (Gene) Meadows of Jacksonville Beach, FL.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, Perry Bingham; daughter, Carole Neis and son-in-law Eugene Neis and a brother, Gordon Jensen.

Eileen’s sense of humor, friendly smile and warm embraces will be greatly missed by her family.

Thank you to Dr. Henry Schultz for 30+ years of dedicated care, Mayo Hospice program and volunteers and the staff at the Chosen Valley Care Center in Chatfield.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at Homestead United Methodist Church in Rochester with the Rev. Becky Jo Thilges officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00am at the church.  Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.
