Linda Dianne Otis, age 67 of Rochester passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2011 at Methodist Hospital following a very lengthy battle with cancer. Linda Diane Rugg was born on November 29, 1943 in Mower County near Sargeant, MN to Walter and L. Helen Rugg. She attended Oxford Community High School in Oxford, IA graduating in 1962. On October 20, 1984 she married Dale Otis in Rochester. Linda worked at the Mayo Clinic as a medical secretary retiring in 2008 after 24 years of service. Her faith was extremely important to her, and she was a devout member of Calvary Evangelical Free Church. She was a member and supporter of the Calvary Choir and loved singing for many years. Linda and Dale enjoyed traveling together in the Caribbean and Mexico. In her spare time, she could be seen reading books and bird watching. She also enjoyed watching sports, and especially loved cheering for her favorite teams: The Iowa Hawkeyes, The Minnesota Twins and The Minnesota Vikings. She is survived by her Husband Dale of 26 years, her children, Audra Simenson, Teresa “Terri” (Steve) Cureton and Vicki (Cory) Krebsbach Johnson all of Rochester; seven grandchildren; four sisters, Judy (Leonard) Carney of Parnell, IA, Laura (Gary) Hill of Washington, IA, Mary (Donald) Richardson of Collinsville, IL., and Shelley (Kent) Herren of Marion, IA.; five brothers, Fred (Liz) Rugg, Wayland, IA, Merle (Sherri) Rugg, Wayland, IA, Beryl (Donna) Rugg, Wayland, IA, Sanford (Nancy) Rugg of Crawfordsville, IA, and Robert (Diana) Rugg of Omaha, NE.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 30, 2011 at 11:00 am at Calvary Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Larry Orth officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 at the new River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Linda’s family would prefer memorials be directed to Calvary Evangelical Free Church in Rochester.
