Joanne M. Freese

The funeral service for Joanne M. Freese will be at 12:00 PM Monday May 16, 2011 at Bethel  Lutheran Church in Rochester, with Rev Anjanette Rist officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rochester. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am. to 12:00 pm. Monday May 16, 2011 at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester.

Mrs. Freese 82, of Rochester, formerly of Osage, Iowa and Stewartville,  MN., died of complication from cancer Friday May 13, 2011 at Samaritan Bethany Heights  in Rochester.

Joanne was born May 20, 1928 in Rochester, MN. to  Heye and Beretha (Dicken) Renken.  She attended rural schools and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1949. She moved to Eugene Oregon and attended beauty college, graduated, and worked there for seven years. She returned to Rochester and married Dietrich “Dick” Freese on September 27, 1958. Mrs. Freese was the owner operator of the Beauty-Aire in Stewartville. She enjoyed her flower garden, embroidery, and she also enjoyed collecting recipe books .  Mr. Freese farmed near Dover and also worked for the Minnesota highway department as a heavy equipment operator for 32 years. Mr. Freese died April 4, 2005.

Survivors include a Step-son Ken (Betty) Freese of Spring Vally, MN. Two  Step-grandchildren Cheryl (Mark) Lehnertz of Chatfield and Jason (Sara) Freese of Byron, MN. Three Step Great Grandchildren, Jay Lehnertz and Jessica and Jacob Freese. She is also survived by two sisters, Lea (Clifton) Pagel of Rochester, and Florence (Dale) Worrick of Springdale Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers, and 1 sister. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews
