Roberta “Bert” Rahn

A Funeral Mass for Roberta “Bert” Rahn will be at 7:00 pm Sunday, March 6, 2011 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester with the Rev. Charles Collins officiating. Visitation will be prior to the mass from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Burial will be the following day in Calvary Cemetery at Waseca, MN.  Mrs. Rahn, age 72 died March 1, 2011 at St. Mary’s Hospital of complications of recently diagnosed Hodgkins Lymphoma.

She was born Roberta Ann Degnan September 21, 1938 in Waseca to Robert and Ruth (Middleton) Degnan. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic High School in Waseca in 1956, then worked for a short time as an EEG technician at the Mayo Clinic. In addition to being a homemaker, she also worked at the Donut Hut, then K-Mart for more than twenty–five years, retiring in June of 2003.

Bert enjoyed reading – she loved her books! She enjoyed following the Vikings, Twins, and girls’ high school basketball. She also enjoyed spending time with her girlfriends at the “Y”. Bert especially loved her grandchildren and attending as many of their activities as she could. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. In 1959 she married Fredric Rahn. They were later divorced.

She is survived by two daughters and one son, Laura (Peter) Rauchwarter of Inver Grove Heights, Mark Rahn (Aimee Pawlcyn) of Minneapolis, and Debby Nolan of St. Paul. A granddaughter and grandson also survive, Danielle Rauchwarter and Connor Nolan.  She was preceded in death by a son, James Patrick, her sister, Mary, and her parents.
