Dorothy E. Paulson

The funeral for Dorothy E. Paulson will be 11:00AM Friday, January 7, 2011 at Homestead United Methodist with the Rev. Becky Jo Thilges officiating. Burial will be Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Paulson, age 96, a lifelong Rochester resident died early Tuesday morning, January 4, 2011 at Golden Living Center East in Rochester where she had resided for the past eight years.

She was born Dorothy Elizabeth Stewart October 8, 1914 in Rochester to Leon and Ellen (McDonald) Paulson. She grew up here and attended Rochester High School. On December 31, 1933 she married Floyd E. Paulson at Zumbro Falls, MN in a combined ceremony that included her brother, Leonard Stewart and his bride Margaret Meyers.

Mrs. Paulson was a homemaker and also a bookkeeper for her husband’s construction business. She was a member of Homestead United Methodist Church, a charter member of Rochester Senior Citizens Center and also had belonged to the YMCA.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters: Floyd Paulson, Jr. and James (Miki) Paulson, both of Rochester; Janice Aaby of Rochester and Linda (Bruce) Larson of St. Paul. Thirty-four grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren also survive. In addition, a sister Loretta Krock of Rochester survives. She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and four sisters and a grandson, Dan who passed away in 1981.
