Santina T. McManus

Santina, “Tina”, McManus, 91, passed away on March 28th, 2024, after a long battle with dementia. Although the disease eventually took her mind, it never took her spirit. Those who knew Tina personally would tell you about her wit, humor, kindness, and lighthearted nature–qualities that endured until her final days.

Tina married James Edward McManus, Sr. on April 14th, 1956, in New York. She met her husband while she worked as a punch card operator at New York Life. James repaired IBM punch card machines. The way James tells the story, Tina would “pretend” the machine was broken so she had an excuse to see him. They are survived by the two sons they had together: Edward James McManus, and James Edward McManus, Jr.

Santina was the epitome of grace and class, and a cook of legendary repute. Anyone who was lucky enough to sit down for a meal at Tina’s table would tell you about a meal they never forgot. This was one of the many ways Tina exhibited a deep and lasting love for her family. Although her achievements are many and their lasting impact on those whose path she crossed ever enduring, none were as great as her unwavering and resolute commitment to her loved ones. An exceptional daughter, wife, mother, niece, grandmother, and friend, she lived a life anyone would envy. This is her legacy.

The family will be keeping her burial private, but her loving, joyful legacy will live on in each person’s existence she touched with her exuberance. For every day we continue to live on this earth, we will each strive to emulate Tina, for that is a life well lived.
