Mr. Douglas, 67, of Byron, MN, died Monday, December 20, 2010 at St. Marys Hospital surrounded by his family.
Bob was born June 16, 1943 in Marion Township to Erwin and Eileen (Joyce) Douglas. He graduated from Byron High School in 1961. He served as a radar technician in the US Navy from 1962 – 1966 aboard the USS Barney, DDG-6. On July 11, 1964 he married Jane Emerson at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester, MN. The couple lived in Norfolk, VA while enlisted until 1966. At that time, they moved to Byron, MN where they have resided ever since.
Bob worked at IBM as an electronics technician for 28 years, retiring in 1998. He then worked 4 years at PEMSTAR.
He is survived by his wife, Jane; son Chris, wife Heather and grandsons Evan, Nick, and Nathaniel; daughter Sara, husband Patrick Braun and grandchildren Ryan, Travis, and Anna; son Daniel, wife Missy and grandsons Owen and Sean; daughter Rebecca, husband Jay Hornblad and grandsons John, William, and Benjamin; and son Justin, wife Dana and grandchildren Carly and Nolan. He is also survived by brothers Gordon of Albuquerque, NM, Darrel of Hickory, NC, and sister Karen of Albuquerque, NM.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Virginia, and infant brother Eugene.
From coaching little league baseball and soccer for his children, to attending countless games, concerts and programs, Bob was very active in the lives of his children and grandchildren. If it was a family event, Bob and Jane were there. Grandpa Bob played such an important part of his grandchildren’s lives, and they were the light of his life. He and Jane also enjoyed many great years of traveling and camping with friends. Bob’s quick wit and sense of humor always made people laugh and he will be greatly missed.
Memorials are preferred to Christ the King Catholic Church in Byron, MN.
